At the moment it's the 'going home' factor is the main reason, and that's fair. But if it ever reaches the stage where say 5 star players all decide to abandon their clubs and head somewhere else together as a combined unit under the guise of free agency just to win premierships.. it would totally suck for the sport. Because then other players will do it.. and there will be 2 or 3 clubs stocked with the best talent, and everyone else will have jack all.

I think Richmond have made it pretty obvious over the past few years that we’re a genuine system based team, there’s no doubt we’ve got some of the best players in the competition. We’ve never had or needed the depth of stars in the midfield that teams like Giants, Geelong and Collingwood have had over the last couple of years.

Blokes like Lambert, Edwards, Graham, Ellis and Caddy all know their role and exactly what’s required of them every single week. They may not have the resumes or highlight reels of some of those young Giant sun midfielders but our boys have shown they can match it with anyone.
