I reckon I've clarified this before... Trigg made the mistake of thinking a verbal handshake with Blucher saying that the deal was not acceptable, had dealt with Reid's parting gift. (Blucher later declared he was going through a marriage breakdown at the time and conveniently had "no recollection" of the Trigg conversation). Trigg stupidly didn't put it in writing and had no leg to stand on. When the Board would have asked him "Is there anything in this" he would have responded "No, it's all good, I took care of it at the time" because he believed he had. It became apparent when he was O/S and things were coming unstuck with the Tippett trade, that he needed to come back and fix up the mess. There was absolute incompetence here no doubt about that, but I don't believe there was any intention to deceive. I do agree with you though... Changes to both CEO and Chairman should have happened back then. I look forward to when Chapman walks away from the Board, and hopefully we also have a completely new coaching panel to take us forward. We desperately need new air breathed into the club at all levels.
The issue here, is that if this is actually true, then the levels of incompetence are staggering. They are running a professional football club, yet when Trigg discovers the dodgy aspects of Tippett's contract (which has/had massive ramifications for the club) he has a handshake deal with Blucher that the deal is not acceptable, even though the signed contract still has all details of the deal. Absolute incompetence to not put it in writing. Secondly rumours come out in the media and Trigg says he dealt with it due to the handshake deal and the board accept that on face value as the situation being dealt with. Surely at that point Trigg meets with Blucher again and clarifies the clauses in the contract and then gets it in writing, or in fact discovers that Blucher has "no recollection" of the event and then deals with the situation. So once again incompetence of the board to blindly accept that a handshake deal has rectified the situation, and incompetence from Trigg to assume everything is ok despite all the reports in the media and not readdress the situation with Blucher.
If this turn of events is true, as opposed to a deliberate attempt to hide and deceive, then Trigg and the board should have been sacked for the incompetence alone. Yet as we know, all administrative staff kept their jobs.

One of the complaints my Perth friend had about him was about how with the resources Subiaco have it wouldn't take a coaching genius to get them a Premiership and he underachieved considering some of their results.

Didn’t he take them to an undefeated year in 2018? The first ever in the WAFL?

Although Subiaco have won a heap of premierships over the last 20 years so hard to know whether Schofield was really anything special

Blucher flat out denies there was any rescinding of the deal. It’s a lot more than just no recollection

Feenix have you actually looked into his CV?

I’m not suggesting Mark Stone should be afl head coach, but I wonder if we can find a role for him. He actually has a lot of afl level experience. He is actually more qualified to be our senior assistant than Campo.

West Coast 2003-2007
- Opposition analyst

Sydney 2008-2011
- Stoppage coach

Fremantle 2012-2017
- midfield coach (2012-2015)
- forwards coach (2016-2017)

Glenelg 2018-2019 (premiership)

Apparently before joining afl system he coached his own team in Wagga Wagga. Then was an assistant coach at South Fremantle in 2002 before he joined the AFL (West Coast) in 2003.

So he has had 15 yrs in afl system and coached an SANFL side in his own right to a premiership.

Very qualified for a Senior assistant role.

As much as I don’t want to lose him from the Bay, if I was the Crows I’d take him in a heartbeat

His ability to get young men playing the way they need to in order to win games of footy is first rate. I’ve seen it the past two years. He is a very good speaker - no bells and whistles, very simple, clear and inspiring but not in a rah-rah way.

One of the first things I heard him say is that success in footy is pretty simple - it is effort, repeated. He emphasized it again in his post match acceptance of the coaches medal. Add that to an excellent defensive structure, very attacking football when in possession, ferocious tackling and a team commitment and you get the Glenelg premiership.

We could do a lot worse and perhaps not much better

Does Dal Santo coach at all? (Not suggesting for head coach)
He speaks well and seems like he knows what he’s talking about.
Think he’s working for Fox Footy as a boundary rider? On a few of their shows as well, doubt he makes the switch to coaching

Could Dal that Peter Bell type of role?

Im not sure he could make the tough decisions.....

I cant see him leaving a cooshy and well paid media job

Doesn’t mind having an opinion can’t see that as an issue.
Leaving Melbourne I can see as an issue though.

Easy to have an opinion when you dont have accountability for the decisions or the tough discussions

Why no love for Craig McRae. Very very impressive cv
Has always been asociated with winning cultures. Has been involved with young players in key development role He is a SA boy. He has played in premiership teams. He has been director of development at two clubs. Has worked in the media in Brisbane. Has won premiership in vfl and got his team to finals each year last three years. Has won coach of the year this year and another award best new coach or something similar in last few years. Has a business degree and also a teaching degree. He is a very good educator of young men. What’s not to like. He should be a candidate at least.

I also like the cut of stones jib. Both men impress

OR... they stuck up for Trigg because they knew it was Reid's fu** up?
lol, Trigg knew about it (even if after the event) & Noble had fixed it by agreeing to trade Tippett to Brisbane & Trigg vetoed it!

How stupid can you get...

I remember Trigg saying at the time he felt he could talk Tippett into staying. *sigh* A bigger sliding door moment there never was.

That is the thinking of a poor decision maker.

Was a simple get out jail card that would have remedied the whole mess & he passed on the opportunity.

I want more good decision makers at AFC as we still have some poor ones remaining!

No arguments from me.

Glenelg’s win proves the old adage true: to win a flag you need to have the 5 C’s all lined up
Chair
CEO
Coach(ing staff)
Captain
Cattle

Looking at the Crows we are shaky on all of those. Fagan and Sloane perhaps the only near-certainties

Much work to be done
The 6th C is cleanout...we're starting that

To add further context, his time in the AFL has been at good clubs during strong periods.

West Coast
- 2003 - Elimination Final
- 2004 - Elimination Final
- 2005 - GF (lost)
- 2006 - GF (won)
- 2007 - 2nd Semi

Sydney
- 2008 - Semi Final
- 2009 - 12th
- 2010 - Semi Final
- 2011 - Semi Final

Freo
- 2012 - Semi
- 2013 - GF (lost)
- 2014 - Semi
- 2015 - Prelim
- 2016 - 16th
- 2017 - 14th

Glenelg
- 2018 - 6th
- 2019 - GF (won)
That's the sort of record that says 'pick me'

Stone was asked if he would be at the Bay next year and he said he’s contracted for a third year but his first priority is to support his family

I think that’s what’s commonly known as a signal😛

Yeah not sure. Probably because he wasn’t a name as a player or hasn’t been a high profile assistant
Neither was Alistair Clarkson....plenty of melts from Hawks supporters when he was appointed......

I like the fact he has moved all over Australia within the industry. Won’t be the type to say, I want to coach in Victoria only. He gets it. Maybe he could explain it to some of our players... Or even other coaches, as some are becoming the same as players, only wanting to coach/play in Victoria. It is supposed to be the AFL after all.

I think he balked at having to sell it to fans.

Again, not a great sign of a leader of a club.
