Wouldn’t even be in my top 3 choices , was made capt coz he was best player and they hoped it would be enough for him to stay . Vlas by a mileI’d be giving it to Lynch. There are plenty of players with leadership in our squad but he is a leader of men. He’s done it already at GC and would have learned from that experience. Now in the right culture, with many good years of footy ahead, he will be a strong follow up to Cotch

Save it all for Whitfield next year? Imagine the salt.
Grundy asking for a 7 year deal at the pies...he's a great player got the pies over a barrel they are f’ed without him
Fyfe's coming isn't he, yep I knew it, Tiger71 please confirm...Just heard huge news at the JDM
100% agree with the Stack comments. First game up forward was an absolute blinder but went on to have less and less of an influence before getting dropped. Would like to see him back in defence in 2020.Actually Stack and Picketts best position is H/B. They have shown they can go thru the middle but imo it isnt their strongest spot.
Thought we did Stack a disservice by moving him away from h/b and he started to struggle.

Previously thought the same about Baker's move from forward to back but he did improve as a defender.
Absolutely laughable that people are wanting to move Cotchin from the Centre square. Yep, had hamstring issues this year but if he follows medical advice and strengthens the area causing the issue, normal service can resume.
Cotch is purely a contested onball beast imo. Suits him from a pace and aerobic capacity too. Keep him on ball, brings an intensity others cannot as the leader and captain
His Finals series absolutely proves you correct. Cotchin changed the momentum back to our advantage TWICE in both finals against the Lions & Cats, then set the standards again in the GF with that tackle on Mumford. If hes fit next year his rightful spot is center square on-ball.Absolutely laughable that people are wanting to move Cotchin from the Centre square. Butler move thats about i reckon.I havent heard any mail this year. Maybe we arent doing anything
Hopefully some goss comes out of the JD Medal night.
Music to my ears...plus all those early draft picks for both Beams and Treloar!!! It's a Symphony!!!!Grundy`s Manager seems quite adamant that he wants 7 years. Love the pressure back on the pies
OK. Here is my completely insane trade idea, for us to get more trade currency. Please hear me out before shooting me.
Trade Rance.
Now - this is contingent on a couple of things.
1. He has to want to go. I don't think he does - he seems very happy in Melbourne, building a fledgling media career, and why would you want to go home to Perth anyway? But, maybe, he does.
2. We get a minimum of a Top-10 draft pick PLUS a gun U24 kid. Probably more. This is like the Eagles trading Judd, where they got Kennedy, and Pick 3. It might take a 3-4 way deal to organise that.
Why it's a good idea:
1. We have the best defence in the league WITHOUT him - sure, we'll be even better with him. But we have a premiership-winning defence right now.
2. He turns 30 in a week.
3. He's coming off a knee - and his main strength is his enormous agility. How is that going to be affected?
4. We don't have too many HIgh Draft pick KPP kids coming through, and we won't get too many high draft picks over the next few years. If we want high draft picks, we are going to have to put up some currency - Bellis and K-Mac types aren't going to cut it. Yeah, we can wait for Free Agency and pick up the next Lynch or May from the Suns, but there's not a lot of them, and there will be a lot of competition for them.
Why it's a bad idea:
1. He's probably the best defender in the game (although DGrimes might have something to say about that). He fits straight back into our side (Grimes can play on anybody).
2. We are a bit light on for KPDs - do we really think Garthwaite is our future full-back? Our other big defenders (Grimes and Astbury) are 28 and have some injury history. I have no idea how Balta is going to turn out (it's exciting, though).
3. There are some guys who are just heart-and-soul of a club. I think Rance is one of them, and this is why I would only do it IF he wants to go home. Ask old Richmond players about trading away Whale Roberts - not the greatest player, but a great team man. Ripped the heart out of the club. I see Rance has a similar profile within the clubroom walls.
4. Going all in on High Draft picks for big kids is risky - they take many years to get it together, and you usually don't know until year 4 or 5 whether they are going to mkake it. Maybe just wait and trade for them then.
Look - it's all based upon Rance WANTING to go - and I'm not sure he does, and I'd really rather keep him. But he's a cool cat, we know he's a bit left-field, we know he has a very interesting and different life off-field. Who knows? But if he has ever expressed the thought 'I'm happy here, but I'd like to go back home sometime and finish my career in Perth', I think the club should look at that now.
Keeping your list up-to-date is an ongoing management process. You have to be thinking 4-5 years ahead all the time, paricularly with developing kids, like, say, how Rance himself turned out. And, like it or not - players are just assets.
