Not so worried about agility as medical Technics are vastly improving all the time. Only 4-5 years ago it was an injury that saw a player out for 12 + months, now the specialist say 6-9 month and that's at elite sport level, 5 percent reoccurrence rate, full mobility. The biggest challenge he'll face is confidence in his body. The club should be all over that.

Is they any up to date mail on where Kyron's at?

Just guessing (seeing the players are officially on holidays).

Hopefully he's able to pump out a few repeat beach sprints on his time off anyway.

Nah! Back in Melbourne I'm told. Nice shot of Cottesloe beach though. Good ol Indiana tea house. Was Heath Ledgers favorite spot I'm told.
Hey Waussie, over the weekend, someone showed me a recent pic of Kyron at the beach, wow, looks to be absolutely ripped, any updates from your end ? I am really looking forward to seeing him back on the track, and hope his rehab is well ahead of schedule.

This is the bit that matters, and he looks to me like he still needs to do a lot of work on that left leg (achilles injury).

By the way, for that insane alarmist element around here who believe that footballers should be flogging themselves to death every spare second they have in a day, I am not in any way insinuating that Kyron is not doing everything according to his rehab instructions. I know how you folks relish the opportunity to dive on this stuff and bring out your whips. Bad achilles injuries require a lot of rest before engaging in a strength program, and Kyron is no bludger as was proven by his hard work to improve his endurance and make an AFL debut.

I'm just pointing out that wondering at the kids "pecs" is a bit misleading.

I hope he's back playing some level of footy in the first half of the season, and shows improvement from then on.

Groin guru & others in the know, what is the typical rehab schedule for a bad achilles rupture?
If everything goes smoothly:

-Normal activities ~6 months
-AFL level activities ~9 months - Can be sooner but considering it's such a bullshit injury you definitely go with the safety-first approach. Given his past injury history I have no doubt Kyron would be all over his rehab.

He'd be in the Final phase ~4 months after surgery so he'd be working on muscle imbalances, proprioceptive drills, increasing load, and repetition.

Cheers. :thumbsu:

Okay, so he's 4 months in to rehab since his operation.

9 months puts him at March 2020 to be back in to full training and then some time before he recaptures fitness.

I figure if he's back playing VFL by ~ round 4-6, then that's a good result.

I think they'll aim for VFL round 1. I'm sure that's what any updates will say but I'd be shocked if he had any meaningful involvement in practice matches or games prior to the first few weeks. Maybe a little run out here and there but surely no contact in the intraclub. Not worth the risk especially with that injury and on a 1-year contract. He'd know it and wouldn't be in a hurry to push past the specialists and demand game time.
