This was the 2018 voting procedure - the number of games counted this year is probably 23 (?), as I think it's generally 2 less than our number of matches for the season:

Voting System

After each game the Senior Coach and assistant coaches rate each player in the AFL team’s performance out of 15.

The combined votes are then averaged to give a final score for that game.

To ensure players aren’t disadvantaged by injuries or being managed, each player’s highest scoring 21 games of the season are added together to give a final score for 2018. Therefore, if a player plays 23 games, his lowest scoring 2 games will be eliminated from the total.

Tom Harley Best Clubman: Scooter
Best Young Player: Jordan Clark

Carji Medal:

2nd: Dangerfield/Kelly tied

Rounding out the top 10:

From the Geelong Addy:

The top five contenders for Geelong’s Carji Greeves Medal

Tim Kelly
WAS half a vote from winning the best-and-fairest award last year in his first AFL season and has gone to new heights in 2019.

Ranked 12th in the competition for inside-50s and 13th for total kicks, and was Geelong’s leading clearance winner. His first half of the year will be where he polls most of his votes, but he also enjoyed a very strong finals campaign.

Has placed highly in a stack of AFL awards, including a fifth in the Brownlow Medal and a fourth in the AFL Coaches Association Award.

His trade value has increased on last season and a podium finish tonight would only serve to further justify Geelong’s stance that he is worth a minimum of two first-round picks as part of a trade after he requested a move home to Western Australia earlier today.

Patrick Dangerfield
GUNNING for a third win in four years — his one “miss” was a second last season after being denied victory by half a vote. It would also be his fourth club best-and-fairest award in five seasons after his Malcolm Blight Medal win in 2015 at Adelaide.

Came home like a freight train in the Brownlow Medal to finish second, and was runner-up in the AFL Coaches Association Award.

Interestingly, his own teammates did not nominate him in the top three Cats for the AFLPA MVP this year, but he was prolific again and led the way for Geelong in disposals, inside-50s and contested possessions. Will take some beating, but there are more than a few challengers.

Tom Stewart
THE dashing defender registered the most kicks in the competition in 2019, was the No. 1 player in the league for metres gained and had the highest number of rebound-50s.

He also took the second highest number of marks and was ranked fifth overall for intercepts, resulting in a second straight All-Australian guernsey.

A proven vote-getter in the Carji Greeves Medal, Stewart has finished fifth (2017) and equal sixth (2018) in his previous two years at the Cats and was a consistent performer in the eyes of AFL coaches.

Has taken his game to new levels this season and a best-and-fairest would complete one of the more stunning rises the game has seen in recent years.

Mark Blicavs
REIGNING club champion who has only got better in 2019 following his breakout season in defence.

Remarkably snubbed by All-Australian selectors despite being included in the squad of 40, Blicavs showed his versatility again when he moved into the ruck late in the season.

Another player who has had no trouble when it comes to receiving votes in the best-and-fairest award, Blicavs won in 2015.

This year he led the Cats for one percenters and was ranked fourth for marks. But more than any stats he produced, it was his ability to shut down the opposition’s best forwards on a weekly basis that will hold him in good stead tomorrow.

Tom Hawkins
MADE the All-Australian team for just the second time this year, with the last time being in 2012 — when he also won the Carji Greeves Medal.

Won the club goalkicking award for an eighth straight season with 56 and was third in the competition for goal assists, marks inside-50 and total score involvements.

Kicked four goals or more seven times and took six marks or more on nine occasions. Despite a lean patch towards the end of the year on the scoreboard, the way Geelong’s best-and-fairest award works could suit him as those matches will be discounted when it comes to voting. Rated very highly internally so expect him to poll prominently.

Other top 10 chances
Mark O’Connor, Mitch Duncan, Joel Selwood, Jake Kolodjashnij, Gary Ablett

Do finals count or just regular season?

Do finals count or just regular season?
Voting for all matches - regular season & finals

But they do cap the games; last year it was best 21 games when we played 23, so thinking this year will be capped at 23 from 25 games

Venue & accomodation all in one convenient location - no venue in Geelong has the seating capacity they have at Crown, and having accomodation attached makes it easier because a lot of the players & staff etc will kick on into the night, or have family who help on the night with baby sitting kids, so they will have a room up stairs etc
Thanks... Gee I thought there be a venue down at Geelong could cater for a function like that....

Will be interesting to get the vibe of the leader's tonight when up on the soap box. Carter's end of season speil as with Cook's and Scott's. One thinks Scott's might be pointed.

I think the function is sit down for 1000+

Once the planned conference centre is finally built, I'm sure that will cater to functions of required size
