Where’s this Hately talk come from?
I was disappointed we didn’t take him last year at 9
But happy with Jones
Hately on the end of a long list of Midfielders at GWS, if offered the chance to return to SA and play for the Crows he will jump,
if we can convince GWS we will use pick 4 on Green they will go all out to get that pick
As it stands Green will not last to pick 12 so that mean GWS lose both Pick 12 and there pick 18 gets downgrade via the points system,
Trading with us means they get 2 x top 10 picks, Depending on Melb.
to me that worth 3 x 1st or 2x 1st and Hately.

The irony of the camp is that the AFC is such a bloody conservative football Club and the first time they decide to go rogue and they totally f**k up and get it wrong.
Second time.....Tippetgate the first

Would love to get Hately.

We should already have him IMO.

This is the thing I find confusing. We run leading teams at Adelaide, which includes ongoing 360 reviews. Why did we need the stupid camp in the first place?
Yeah I dont get it either.

I guess it was seen as something outside of that area.

Probably a knee jerk reaction to losing the GF.

Makes you wonder if our players could handle a Kokoda pre-season like Hawthorn had previously? Bugs? Wet shoes? No wifi ? 😂😂😂

Hawthorn do it every year with their 1-5 year players - i know a guide that has been part of it a couple of times and he told me Clarkson is brutal - pushes them incredibly hard and further than he thought he would. Also Clarkson is big on the history side of it and pushes the message of how tough the young guys did in WW2 and reminds them "they are just good at footy" not heroes.

We perhaps thought our "camp" may do something similar but it obviously failed big time.

There is clearly a divide in the group and I don't know the reasons why or what happened exactly at the camp to cause it to happen but its clearly there.... but that doesn't excuse players effort this season, there were times where as a fan it really didn't look like they were trying or that they even cared about winning which is rare as 99% of athletes play sport because they want to win and they like winning and that is something the players need to step up and take responsibility for.

Alot of those matches in the back half of the year I felt sorry for Don because he was copping it from everyone, cost him his job in the end, when it was the players effort/heart that was lacking.
The sense of entitlement some of these players accross the AFL these days have is staggering, just in the last 10 years even.
As an aside and why I won't feel sorry for Don

He had the opportunity to change the playing group and chose not to

He backed them in and it's on his head they played like a group that didn't care

The inevitable autobiographies trashing Burton and Campo is something to look forward to.
I'm still waiting on G Cornes tell all book

I am loving all of this ridiculous grand standing that is going on at the moment. Essendon and Geelong making ridiculous requests for their players makes us asking for a first rounder with a second/third going back for Keath and Greenwood look more than reasonable ;)

Lets get these deals done while the circus is still in town and by the time it all blows over and Geelong and Essendon have to deal with reality all the good picks will have been traded :) Think we did very well last year with the Gov trade. Getting that Ned pick done early was a great bit of business. I am very critical of our recent list management decisions regarding Gibbs, Sloane and Lynch. But the work Reid did in last years trade period was very good. He did exceptionally well in fact.

You seriously think the camp has anything to do with these trades? Betts and Jacobs are being traded because they're cooked. We didn't ship out CEY, he just took a longer contract offer elsewhere.

I'll give you Jenkins. He's a troublemaker and no longer has 40 goal a year seasons to cover his ass.
Bless.

My understanding is that it would be the 2020 pick tied to our ladder position, not the pick 11 we were given as a part of our assistance package.
If you get Crouch, Ellis, Greenwood, Rowell and Anderson, I can see you winning 7-9 games

We make ourselves weaker and you stronger. Thanks but no thanks

Rumour going around on the Suns board that we've offered pick 15 this year and our 2020 first rounder for Crouch. Thoughts?

I like it. Done deal for me. Could you throw in 2 meter peter for shits and giggles. Dont ask for it back when Luko asks to come home next year.

Chicken tweeting out his backside no doubt.

But just think about this for a second. we lose our best midfielder in B crouch to get pick 1. If we take that to the draft we get Rowell who would be a direct replacement for him but may / may not be as good. The alternative may be that get pick 1 then put it up for sale and maybe get the vic clubs scrambling over themselves trying to offer multiple high end 1st rounders???

If he had to leave after what happened after the camp, why didn't he leave last year before we Rookie listed him.

Correct, and why did he play so well, if he was upset .... but i do take the long that relationships were fractured

But this still doesn’t explain the bye

Pick one for B Crouch lol

No way GC are that dumb

It's not about being dumb. B Crouch would slot straight in and be their best midfielder next year and with Rankine up and running most likely and a few others, he might help them get a few more wins AND that might be the start for them to convince players to stay. Sure they can draft Rowell at 1 like just about every other club would do but does Rowell slot straight in and do what we know B Crouch can..very unlikely in his 1st year. Don't forget the AFL have their hands all over GC and if B Crouch is any chance to be levered out, they would be wanting to throw the everything including the kitchen sink to get hit.
