With a good injury run I can see them challenging for finals.

But this year should be seriously worrying, the list is very unbalanced. Tomlinson is a good pick up but doesn't actually fill a need. They desperately need outside runners and classy forwards.

You can't just compile a team with 15 inside midfielders.

Pending trades and drafting, it is pretty difficulty to call out any club other than Gold Coast as having 'no chance' to make the 8 next year.
The next weakest batch of clubs would be North and St Kilda - but even they have a small chance.
Blues and Swans should improve, Demons should improve a lot, Freo will have a new coach so anything could happen. All of the other clubs were in the mix for the 8 already.

Tigers, Giants and Eagles (w Kelly) would be expected to get to Prelim week at this stage, but beyond that 2020 will be very even and could be a more interesting year than 2019.

Going nowhere with Viney in charge. When the club organises a training camp, you go on that training camp. If you’re a 17 year old in the draft you get excited about hopefully making the big league. You don’t tell a club they will pay if they don’t draft you. Crap leader average player. Stack taught him a lesson in his third game lol

How did the training camp that Adelaide organised for it's players go?

Not sure what your point about him telling the club if he was overlooked he would make them regret it. Would you prefer him to say if he was overlooked by the club he would make them happy they overlooked him?

Stack lined up an unsuspecting player, well done.

You just don’t get it lol.
Players should be privileged to get drafted. His comments were embarrassing and showed zero respect. He rates himself but he’s just an average player who goes in. Also when a club organises something you go and do it. Has nothing to do with crows. They lost a grand final. Viney is one of those New gen who thinks they know it all. Keep him in charge if you want to stay down the bottom lol. He’s not the only demon who loves to bathe in his own bath water ;)

Unfortunately Melbourne couldn't afford (both financially and culturally) to keep going down the long rebound path when Roos came on board. That's why you get a Paul Roos!

Traded a 2nd round for Vince, did the Kelly for Salem, Tyson deal (including a pick 20 for god knows what), traded picks/list spots for Hibberd, Melksham, Garlett, Bugg, etc etc. Gave up a lot for Oliver. (Gave up a lot for Hogan in the day). Really that build of the list peaked in 17. Those deals came home to cost in 2018 when the undercurrent of talent wasn't there.

The top line of talent: Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Salem, May, Lever, Fritsch, Harmes, Tom McDonald is still good and even the guys who had down years this year mostly through injury should bounce back.

Unfortunately the recruiters and list management put a lot of apples in building from the contest out and they've just whiffed on a lot of outside run/flanker talent. The guys meant to play those spots - KK (injured), Hannan (injured), Vandenberg (injured) and missed draft picks just haven't been good enough.

Goodwin himself actually crafted a game plan for 16-18 based on changing the angles and using the corridor with kicking as well as winning contests and an aggressive zone backline. We gave Adelaide a touch up in 17 but struggled against any side that won the midfield battle. Unfortunately the good results last year hid a lot of the structural weaknesses of the game plan and list and I think it's more of a 2-3 year turnaround than a 1 year blip but there's still a lot to work with and that includes the coach.

You should post more on our board, your knowledge of the game is bloody impressive

Their scoring power (Or lack thereof) was one of the Dees biggest problems last year, along with a constantly confusing/complicated game plan by Goodwin. If they can sort those two out,and get a good run of injury, they should challenge for an 5th to 8th spot in the finals.

Sam Weideman was bitterly disappointing last year, aside from one or two good games (including against my mob)

You seem like it upsets you a little bit. Maybe take the bolded part in retrospect to yourself?
