In all seriousness I do believe there is a big fish. However, announcing it before the Papley and Martin trades are announced would take those trades away.

The club is going to get those deals done - hopefully sooner rather than later - and then will have the player announce his request to Carlton and the club will offer the "best of the rest" to get it done.

That's usually followed by the realisation "You know what, work is paying me right now and I'm on BF talking footy..."

Then there's those glorious few days when I get to laugh at "serious journalists" having to humour all the peanuts that call up with ridiculous trade scenarios, or vague requests for information that's been covered 16 times in the last 2 hours.

Long time listener? Holy shit, as a long time listener you'd have been subjected to 5 hours per day of what Daniher is worth for the last week, and after sitting on hold for 30 mins to ask your question, that's all you could think of? Don't reckon you could pay me enough to front up each day and take calls from these idiots. I'd have snapped and told one of them to go back to licking windows.

I also think that's how it has to be done.

Trade for Papley and Martin, ensuring we keep a 1st round pick available.

Then get the big fish (if there is one) to request a trade.

Have to get the deals done for guys who have already committed. Terrible look to pull out on them for someone else.

Then try reel in the big one... "we've got a first round pick and change " take it or leave it.

I think it's completely plausible. We had big bucks set aside for Cogs. An elite player could certainly be thinking "Blues are on the way up and I want some of that cheddar cheese"
