No children allowed at Fremantle???

So in between Tim Kelly’s Mrs publicly shitting on Geelong (the club that gave TK his AFL career) for holding him to his contract, emotionally blackmailing the AFL community for two years, keeping the only other club in WA at arms length for the duration, and Geelong being reimbursed the bare minimum for currently one of the best players in the league, it really is hard to enjoy the overall outcome.

They telegraphed their move for two years, and despite West Coast passing on TK in several drafts - including the very draft he went to Geelong in - the entitlement and petulance to get there is quite staggering.
They have 3 children, 2 with a learning difficulties. At the time of drafting they had 2 kids with 0 with learning difficulties. In Victoria they have 0 family. In WA they have both their parents and siblings I'm assuming. When the kids have to attend the doctors (or whatever specialists they see) who takes care of the other kid(s)? Kelly is at training, looking at film etc etc.

I also think is a bit strange it kind of painted freo with this negativity without much justification. I understand he wants to go to west coast, just say the preference is west coast because there more security, more opportunities, closer to home, I barracked for them when I was a kid, etc.

Adam Trelor chose Collingwood over Richmond cause he thought they had a better list. He came out and spoke his thruth
My guess and it's only a hunch, is that because so many WC players and staff have kids, they have a pretty sophisticated/child friendly setup. You know, organised play group or day care, contacts with schools/medical professionals etc.

Well this thread suddenly took a turn for the worst cause of an idiotic Geelong bitter.

Eagles fans, just ignore the twit and don't give him the satisfaction of responding, trolls like him get off on pushing people's buttons, he isn't worth your attention folks.

West Coast got the player but I can't help wondering why I keep hearing this garbage about the reason Kelly was only willing to play for the Eagles because it was a better fit for his family??

Then his wife has talk of her tears of joy at hearing he got traded to the Eagles because Fremantle would not have been a good fit for her and the children..

Why doesn't Freo call out their crap as they are making out like Fremantle is not a family friendly environment... So is there something we don't know? Are players at Freo not allowed to bring their partners and kids into the inner sanctum of the club??

West Coast going on past instances would seem like worst of the 2 in terms of a family club..

Such a load of crap by Kelly must being a selfish player who should have allowed Geelong the ability to find the best offer from the 2 Perth clubs and its obvious that would have been Freo... So Tim and his wife had to make out like going to Freo would be horrible experience for the family..

I think it stinks that Cats gave him a start and this is the thanks they get.

Well it does stink for the Cats & their supporters but is what he's done really that bad? Here's a bloke overlooked for years. His chance at AFL meant he had to move across the country which exacerbated family problems. He had two years to prove his worth as a player so as to be an attractive recruit for a team in his home state who have a chance for a Premiership. He gave Geelong great service for his contract period. Now he's landed a lucrative 6 year deal at the Eagles & I say good on him. He & his wife surely deserve a break go their way. Two autistic children would be a very heavy burden.

Probably didn't want to be second fiddle behind Fyfe, so he went to club he'd be #1 at
That must be why North failed to attract their big fish despite throwing money at anyone with a heartbeat. No one wanted to be second fiddle to Cunnington. That must be it.

Alternatively, no one wants to play for North because it's an irrelevant club.

What's to be gained by justifying his decision? Treloar was honest, so far his decision has bitten him on the bum, he'd be reminded regularly about how he might have been a two time premiership player if he'd chosen Richmond and it could end up being Buckleyesque for him.

My gut feel is that there may be some bitterness, perhaps from the years Kelly spent in the wilderness, maybe Freo told him that they didn't think he'd ever make it. That or his manager, or that he thinks a flag is more likely. I feel like if it was superior child care facilities, proximity of the club headquarters for his family, or whatever, he would have just said that.

It's certainly no more puzzling (albeit far lower profile) than when Geelong native Allen Christensen shocked us with a demand to leave for personal issues (turned out to be problems with gambling, the bozos on here assumed it must be an affair involving Tom Lonergan, since Lonergan was mulling over a contract offer from the Bulldogs at around the same time: that was literally the only 'evidence' of a falling out), then demanding a Queensland club as his destination and obviously making negotiations a little more tricky with only two possibile trade partners. I still can't get my head around that one.

Anyway, good result for Kelly, good result for West Coast and I reckon a good result for us. All the best to him. It's good when trades work out like that.

I found it quite weird that he was so desperate to go home for family reasons but ONLY to Eagles.

I understand Eagles being a preference but would have thought if it was so crucial to get back for family than Free would at least be entertained but they may as well have been in Melbourne for as much of a look in as they got. Very strange from the outside.

I'm just quoting this so people can laugh at your tantrum a second time

What a fearful troll OP.

So this was the ONLY reason?

No it wasnt. Eagles had been in contact with Kelly regularly two years prior to being drafted, Freo didnt rate him pre draft. Kelly as a kid supported the Eagles and then followed Judd to Carlton. Reported the Kelly's had issues with some Freo players. Eagles are the stronger and more successful club in WA and are contending now. The Eagkes under Simpson have developed a new brand. Family. Friends. Flags.

Haters gotta hate.

See you in September. Tigers might need to beat a decent side in the GF to win a flag.

Rumour has it a particular player on the Freo list was the reason Freo wasn't an option for the 'family' last year, had nothing to do with Tim BTW..

Maybe he can have pipe sesh with Ben and cycle of apprentices killing their masters at west coast can continue

I can see why Tim Kelly want get his kids there. His wife seem to withdraw on instagram with geelong grade stuff all time. Crack family be well looked after in Perth
Cutting stuff, you obviously went to Geelong Grammar.... 😆

Wow.

You are really hurting arent you.

You need to go and lie on a couch and talkto someone.

Let us know what colour it was after!

PS How is Gary Ablett Snr these days. Stokes still looking after the boys?
Considering you tried to convince everyone in the Tim Kelly trade thread you had insider knowledge because you work for the Eagles I really don't think you should be in here throwing stones

Yeow's got a premiership medal, do you think Fyfe would prefer that to his 2 brownlows?
Hang on, no don't answer, of course Fyfe would prefer the charlies...
Fyfe said in his Brownlow acceptance speech he'd rather a premiership medallion so you're wrong as per usual.

How would it go down if you said the opposite?

"I really want to get home to WA, but nearly every player at West Coast has their kids around all the time and it sounds awful, so I choose Fremantle for lifestyle reasons".

Fremantle is nicer than Perth anyway.

one club has more money than the other, i guess that translates for more opportunities for Kellys family financially

Would have thought Freo would have (a lot) more money (under the salary cap)

I feel like if it was superior child care facilities

What its about baby sitting .... trust you are very late to this issue !!

He had earlier made it clear he had requested a move to West Coast for family reasons.
Today, he said he and his partner Caitlin had been under pressure following their children's diagnoses in a city far from home.
"My oldest boy, as soon as we got to Geelong he was basically diagnosed," Kelly said.

"He's non-verbal so … there's weekly speech therapy sessions, there's weekly occupational therapy session with him.
"Earlier this year we discovered that one of my twin boys is also going to be going down the same path
where he's going to need the exact same treatment."

There is no reason for Cats fans to feel his leaving somehow reflects on them, or the Eagles for that matter.
