alright caesar88 who will get at 5
Get some excitement goinf

1. Brodie Kemp - Big bodied mid but most importantly silky and smooth and clean in traffic. Obvious ACL risk + his size meaning Horse will decide he should be a defender.

2. Caleb Serong - Smaller mid but plays like a bulldog, cracks in and gets it, twists and turns away from traffic. Downside is his dogged attack mean his execution isn't always amazing.

3. Hayden Young - Marketed as a half back flanker with a lethal left foot, but IMO his size and strength means he'd be ideal in the midfield and I rate him more when he's in there. Downside is beware of the flankers!!!

Tom Green also but he's a GWS boy so can't see how we get him.

Anyone else and I honestly reckon we've fluffed it, otherwise we might as well've given up 5 for Daniher.

It is about now that I would like to remind you of what happened at Port Adelaide in 2017, everyone labelled them the trade winners when they brought in Rockliff, Motlop and Watts.

Who won the trade period in 2018? Lot's were saying North Melbourne after bringing in Polec, Tyson, Pittard and Hall.

Winning the trade period... doesn't always mean winning games.

good perspective

whatever you do is never guaranteed thats for sure

Think it takes huge balls for the club to hold it's ground.

- Papley was contracted and required. We kept him.

- Essendon asked for important, required players. We kept them.

- Club had it's eyes on certain draft prospects with pick 5. We kept it.

- Media basically dragged us through the mud for weeks. We kept our focus.

No bending over here folks!

Could not agree more, we set out what we believed was fair value and then stood our ground.

Now up to us manage the relationship with Joe in the next 12 months and work with Carlton or someone else to trade Papley next year.

every year people say we have cash to spend, cant seem to land anyone unfortunately
We offered 600K last year, during the trade period. no one came in.

This year about 2 mill came off our cap not including buddy only having 2 years left on his contract by trade period next year (obviously this doesnt include other players value rising)

I think we have some cash to burn.... like a lot.

Bit of both was my point
We've got plenty of youngsters. Sinclair is the only best 22 player we've recruited from another club since 2013 and we lost a better player for him.

Did you get any licorrrish? (The chewy stuff)
Lol, sorry guys, move to wherever mods.
I’d be happy with 2 more days of boredom. It’d mean Papley remains and we keep Pick 5.
Considering he asked to leave 18 months ago and then had a career best season, it won’t be a problem.

Papley loves to play footy and that is our big win. He has probably been long aware that he was staying.
Jones, I am middle ground. Great runner, good defender, but oh those turnover free kicks when he changes his mind and has one moire step inside. Handed the ball back to the opposition so many times. Anyway wish him luck taking a monday morning dip in St Kilda Beach. Will not be long before he wonders himself how he could leave the Sydney beach scene.
Overall....well done Sydney, showed great backbone and passed on a message for the wanta leavers in the future. Hopefully club also has extra foresight in reasonable/decent contracts for our young players in the future.

Can say the same about North (with Polec + Hall), Bombers etc

Even Geelong. They're still up the top and they've stayed there but not actually improved their side much despite all their additions.

Depends what we offered, but if we didn't offer much more than 9+25 I'll be pi**ed. Also we could have gone elsewhere to improve the list, but we put all our eggs in one basket and didn't pull it off. We have clear holes which we all agree on and didn't fix anything. Dreadful.
I'd be pissed if we got him with more than 25. Let's see if he has a pick nine season with EFC, I'm betting he doesn't.
