What would you have the club do? Bring in Daniher for 5, Papley and pick 25 or more? How is that a win?

No Daniher, no Jones, no pick 9, a Papley who doesnt want to be here, and an average player brought into replace him who's no longer required.

I'm happy. We were never keeping Jones so I don't know what people are whinging about. Without COLA we are going to have to be tougher about players crying "homesickness" to get out of contractual commitments, so happy we are making Papley stay. Essendon were in no position to demand overs for Daniher, they were the ones who did him dirty by being greedy campaigners. 5 and 25 was more than fair for a player who wanted out. If he doesn't come to Sydney next year he was never staying long anyway.

We've got plenty of youngsters. Sinclair is the only best 22 player we've recruited from another club since 2013 and we lost a better player for him.

Papley supposedly loves the Swans, just wants to be closer to home for family reasons. I'm sure we can sort something out. Maxfield was playing out of Sydney in his final year to be closer to his children

I suggested in the AFL thread, why don't we allow players that are playing that week in their home state, arrive a day earlier and leave a day later after the game - so almost 3 days in their home state (especially Victoria about every 2nd week)?

Not bending over is one thing. We also haven't landed a gun since 2013. Any other team had a drought that long?

Considering that we have dealt with the transition from Cola reasonably well and have been open about going to the draft to replenish our list profile, I don’t believe we have been in the position to draft that type of player other than probably Moore and Daniher who we were keen on.

Moore was unlucky that Collingwood made a GF and Buckley completely rebuilt his relationship with the players so he stayed.

For Joe, Essendon (who were within their rights) were just too inflexible to deal with.

If we have as much cash as we apparently do I'd have tried to find a way to do more than Taylor for Jones while keeping a disgruntled Papley on the list.

I would do papley and 25 in a heartbeat...would give us a shot at daniher on the trade table...no way bombers turned thst down...no we are left with a disgruntled player who by reports had already uprooted and moved to victoria
