My relief in holding onto Papley outweighs my disappointment in not getting Daniher. They way Papley plays and leads by example is something you can build a young team around

Disappointed that the Daniher deal wasn’t sorted but I’m quite comfortable with where we drew the line. Pick 9 and a future first rounder was reasonable given the circumstances.

We offered 600K last year, during the trade period. no one came in.

This year about 2 mill came off our cap not including buddy only having 2 years left on his contract by trade period next year (obviously this doesnt include other players value rising)

I think we have some cash to burn.... like a lot.

I'm pretty sure that some excess can be carried forward which will be valuable if we want to throw money at Daniher next year.

But in no way is what Essendon wanted worth it. They didn't want to let him go. Which is something people are forgetting here. Takes 2 to get it done.

E: We want 2 first rounders
S: Done
E: Now we want 2 first rounders and McCartin
S: Done

We have been since 2016. I wonder how much time they have to rebuild the list to contending before the club say enough is enough and turn the place on its head because at the moment it is still 2016. Stagnant with some potenially overrated young players.
