Dear Craig (Cameron)

I have just seen your trade proposal and it is with great regret that I write to inform you of a mixup which has occurred.

Based on the proposed trade, it appears that you believe that you've got Dustin Martin on your list - whereas it's actually Jack Martin.

Apologies
RedFury

Dangerfield went for Dean Gore, picks No.9 and No.28....

I refuse to spend 2 hours reading through 40 pages of melts. Already feeling flat enough. Would appreciate a summary of has been explained somewhere in there.

Strong word was we had multiple pre sorted deals. so not sure if Suns stitched us up or if the ITK word wasn't right and we were have over the line. In which case why didn't we look at alternatives or go back to Ollie.
Papley never available if swans don't get daniher

Carlton weren't going to overpay to get martin. GC asked for too much.

Wines never available

Not going to trade for the sake of trading

Adds nothing to the discussion.

Martin takes 1.2/1 year, why on earth would he extend on a hand-shake agreement for 250k over 3 years when he can probably get at least double that at the Dogs.
It's how the system works. Sure he could turn his back BUT HE WONT, managers won't **** over clubs like that

Suns were having a laugh with their pick 9 for Martin idea. That much is for sure. Arrogant tossers, fueled by the AFL's assistance package. Can't imagine Martin is all that pleased though.

Can someone explain to me why paying $1m to Martin next year would prevent Melbourne from picking him up? Do we know they can't/wouldn't be thinking the same way as us and then renegotiate his deal?

What it all essentially boils down to is that the AFL 2 week trade period is a fizzer, it won’t happen this way again.
Gillon is a failure.

Carlton FC will improve next year, that’s all I care about.
To the folks that put their all into this thread, I applaud, respect and luvs ya’s, I was entertained, more so than the shite that Gilllon tried to manufacture, we ain’t American sport, let’s not try to be like them.

P.S **** you dodo, **** you sydney, **** you gold cosst and **** you afl.

PPS I love you CARLTON, you did the right things tonight!👍✊✅✊

I feel bad for Cripps, to go from potentially playing with coniglio to having to hope the club can get some maturity through the draft would be a pretty disheartening thing. If they keep failing him like this, he has every right to go and find a club that’ll help him prolong his prime instead of being a battering ram year after year.

Agree. People focus on the fact that Papley and Martin were difficult to achieve. No doubt about that, and that's not why SOS failed. He failed because he didn't improve the list. He didn't do his job. If Papley and Martin weren't working out, he should have gone elsewhere. Poor strategy and negotiation. Unless of course he couldn't find any other player available that would improve the list. I'd find this hard to believe.
We have a very competent small forward, improved the back up ruck status and kept our draft hand. Not ideal but not insignificant either.

I don't really think you should be hearing about a target that's contracted unless you have a deal locked in. Just makes you look rather silly.

Saints and Freo hadn't come to terms for Hill before we found out about it. First comes the interest, then comes the player managers getting the word out there, then comes the deal.

Wow, shocking trade period from Carlton.

We have no chance of doing a Brisbane next year. We should have at least offered Pick 9 for Wines. Look what Neale has done for Brisbane. Cripps must be spewing right now that we are just bringing in another kid with Pick 9.
Just to clarify, you think Wines, the young, long term contracted captain of the PAFC was available for 9?

Love it CC.

Sell it whichever way you choose but for two players to ask to nominate Carlton and not get there, doesn't make for a good look.
If you think it does, tell me how.

It's not about melts but reality. We did not pull off the trades we told prospective players we would do so.

You don't think Papley knew every step of the way it was a long shot if the Daniher deal didn't happen? If we knew it, then Papley absolutely knew this could happen. There is no way he would have been left in the dark. Martin is in exactly the same boat. You don't think he knew the fall back option was the PSD if the Suns wouldn't deal?
