Can’t see 15-17 clubs passing up on him....
Was having a laugh sorry. Won’t happen again.

My gut feel now is we do some sort of pick swap with GC, then we pick him up as a DFA.I tend to think that ****wit Cochrane is still chest puffing in response to Carlton's potential strategy to get Martin through the draft.
Hopefully once the dust settles all around, commonsense will prevail. GCS do have some good operators up there, Mark Evans being one of them. With a bit of luck, he'll get into the ear of Cochrane and co, and talk some sense into them, rather than ruin a kid's career.

Cleanest way to do it, and means the circus stops. GC make a point, we move on and jack starts day 1 of pre season.
The good thing is TLA are on our side too, so some sort of deal will be worked out.
No one wants to go down the ND/PSD path

The other difference between Martin and Thornton is, Martin has asked for a trade 2 years in a row, and wants to move to another state. He was also open to multiple clubs last year, and it was just this year that he requested us only.
Ok I’m sure it is but do you mean in the 197 page doc? If yes.....I can’t see the word Category.....can you just steer me a bit?The link is there. It's a PDF from AFL's interwebs.
Category 2 is defined in the PDF.
I’m 100% with you on this one Funk....
Certainly risk involved but the benefits could be game changing

How is it tampering? So draft tampering?
Yeah, nah.
Yes but there is risk. There is no need for us to do them any favours now.
They will not select him in the PSD, so the cleanest way to do it now is for us to take him with pick 3, unless Melbourne take him the pick before.
The weird thing for me is why didn’t dodo take 5 and 9 . Player wanted out / injury . Two top ten picks . Baffling .

Yes but there is risk.
If we want him for sure, DFA is the way
Why wouldn’t they?Do you need a tin foil hat to believe the AFL aren't exactly straight shooters? They just compromised 3 drafts out of the blue to help their pet club without batting an eyelid.
It’s a classic case of Moral Hazard - as pointed out elsewhere. For those that don’t know of it: it’s the concept where someone takes more risks than they otherwise would if they are insured against the risks.Sure.. again agree totally Stamos. I'm more looking at it from the raw, basic reasoning behind both decisions, and that was, both clubs decided to make a stand.
Why they didn't do it with Ablett, Lynch, May et al baffled me. As some have alluded to, City Hall seem to have their sticky fingers in this one as well.
If the delist him by Oct 31, he becomes DFA Nov 1I don't believe he will be eligible as a DFA. They will have already offered him a contract at some point this year, eliminating the possibility.
On what grounds would they possibly do that if the above was true? It's not like we were colluding with GC, in fact, it was the mere opposite. Is this what ITK's alluded to on previous posts about reneging and intervention?
If this is true then there is the possibility that the AFL also cancels the PSD or blocks our run somehow.

It’s the ‘too big to fail’ argument that was used against bail out for US banks in the GFC. Don’t let banks know they will be bailed out else they take more risks.
In this case what’s happened is the Afl has shown they have and will continue to act to support GC. By giving them huge draft pick concessions. That’s insurance. ‘We won’t let you fail’. Therefore in the past they didn’t want to lose them for nothing, now they have been ‘insured’.

Dodo is a moron. Plain and simple.Anyone in their right mind would taken that deal in a heart beat..
If Cochrane is still president, then yes.Through the PSD for free!
Good chance we downgrade pick 9 on draft night, there are 5 guys that we would basically auto pick but the general wisdom is that they will be gone by our pick. Obviously depends on what offers come on draft night
Exactly what I suggested a while back as well. Now they're stuck with a player who doesn't want to be there, and will be a RFA next yearBombers think they’re in their window.
Two 18 year olds couldn’t fill Danihers place.
I would have taken the offer and gone to North for Ben Brown with the picks .
North at least acknowledge they’re nowhere near it.
I see what you did there...Craig cameron phoned sos this morning to apologise for what happened. Said list management team wanted 2 do the original deal agreed but were over ruled by afl
I think he means draft him in the second of the National Draft as opposed to running the gauntlet in the Pre SeasonReg, pointless getting a 2nd rounder now, player trading has ceased
How is it tampering?
We swap picks with GC in their favour.
GC delist Martin
We get him as DFA
Similar to what happened with Lyons last year, except no pick swap
