Poor phrasing I mean media personalities
I knew what you meant. I was being a dick.

I think the public routinely turn on anyone who is over-exposed and disappoints. It’s rarely fair but it happens. If the internet is any measure, then when Tom Boyd quit football and the masses piled in to say “LOL Boyd” or “he’s just soft” accusations were from time to time answered by other people who thought he didn’t necessarily deserve it, or the circumstances weren’t sufficiently known to justify the level of negative attention.

I’ve wandered from the point - my point is that it’s entirely possible that when someone attempts to suggest that when none of us know the circumstances why a player suddenly pulls out, it might might be pretty OTT for people to invent reasons and post about how they are a flog, or soft? And it might be nothing to do with gender - no chivalry, no “PC correctness” - just that they thought the comment might be unfair to a person?

I didn't really care about the whole Mo Hope thing till she embarrassed herself with Malthouse at that function - he didn't really say anything inflammatory despite being a bit of a dinosaur and she didn't have the guts to disagree with him at the time, instead she went to social media where she knew he wouldn't have a go back. That is the mark of a w***er IMO.

Yeah I only read about that online via comments (which isn’t the best way to understand any situation) but it appeared she took a stand on political gender convictions against a guy who was expressing a valid personal view on a safety and medical basis - with some support given the research to date on women and acl injuries for example. I’m reasonably comfortable in saying she appeared to vastly overreact.

The latest vitriol I don’t understand. I hadn’t heard that she had withdrawn from the draft until this thread. I’m pretty much like StEdy and Tulip on this. I’m just puzzled why it gets up people’s noses so much. She presumably nominated because she thought she could manage it, and later withdrew when she realised it wouldn’t work. I’ve backflipped on more stuff even this week, but nobody posts about it (to my knowledge)

The reason being she's already been delisted from 2 clubs and most of us reckon she just read the writing on the wall that she wasn't getting picked.

Possible. But also possible that she pulled out for other reasons. Either way the issue anyone makes of it is bewildering

Just a slight correction, this is the mark of the far left wielding far too much political power

Paddy Mc Cartin has put his AFL career on hold due to ongoing concussion symptoms. Mc Cartin and St Kilda came to a mutual decision with the advise of an American specialist over the last 2 weeks. He will not play in the 2020 season is reported.

Lobb but not Walters LMAO he has no clue
Yeah the campaigner has no idea i love how he shows up this time every year and gets paid for his poxy opinion like he is god like hawks could have had a coach and development system like us and been rubbish and the campaigner never be heard from again. Grew up with sonny its crazy how much better his older brother Colin was than he was but he was a chubby campaigner but the best footballer i ever seen play

Our Watts blunder is nothing compared to the Saints going for McCartain. Even if you think Trac has stalled, he's still done more than McCartain after missing his first season with a busted leg

? I can't remember who the #1 picks were in the 90s so I started it at 2000.

I've been cycling back... worst since Stephen Hooper, Anthony Banik, John Hutton and Richard Lounder. Those early drafts were weird. Martin Leslie was drafted in 1986 but only moved to Brisbane in 1989, so Wikipedia tells me.

Jesus. That is a really bad look for the Saints when you consider how much better recruiters are these days compared to back then. Yes he has had concussions but his career stats are very unflattering and I don't think he is the type of player who could succeed in the modern game.
