Women's Footy AFLW Fremantle - 2020 #1 Team - Season Cancelled

On Sunday the West Clare Waves won the AFL Ireland premiership by beating the Cork Vikings 13.13.91 to 0.0.0

Our Aine Tighe was their ruck and leading goal scorer (our Irish recruits get here at the end of the month). My calculations may be wrong but I think so far she has played like 6 games of Aussie Rules football and the opposition has yet to score a behind against any team she has played for. I have no idea how that is even possible? May her winning ways continue :)

I saw an article on the Freo website that the girls came down to the club to meet each other and a few of the established players and to be presented with their their numbers. Any news on that? Maybe it was just presented with their official guernseys sans numbers.

Pretty sure the numbers for new players are below. I don't think any 2019 players have changed numbers.

O'Driscoll #3
Clifford #4
Tighe #10
Rohde #11
Garstone #16
Roux #17
Strom #21
McMahon #25
Webb #26
Cuthbertson #29
Flood #44

Wonder how they decided. Wonder if Roux requested Hooker’s old number, or if the club gave it to her. Don’t they give the new draftees in the men’s the highest available to the higher picked recruits? But Roux 17 - in the men’s 17 has been somewhat of a poison chalice. Hopefully not for the girls. 🤞🏽🤞🏽

That’s a great fixture for Fremantle. 5 games in Perth, all at Freo except the derby at Optus. All three away games in Melbourne. My guess is that Richmond will be the strongest of the new teams, and we don’t play them or Adelaide in the normal season.
Eagles have 4 away games; 3 to Melbourne and 1 to Sydney.

Agreed. But at least it will hurt the travelling Vic sides more than us. Our girls should be more conditioned to the heat.

Better off having a few thousand more people at the ground IMO. Freo oval is a dump at the best of times, but on a hot day it's hell on earth.

I'm surprised it's not an OHS issue TBH.
