1800 players will be given a point value before Xmas. Sent to clubs and they can either challenge or accept
Despite your cynicism there is wheels in motion around it.
I don't doubt they are onto it.
You would have to be.
Doesn't mean it's all smooth sailing.
It's no secret I don't have a lot of faith in them.
But that's just my experience with some of them.
Others may have had better outcomes when dealing with them.

I wouldn't go that far but your call.
The biggest issue I have is they just keep making more work for club volunteers.
Every year another job is attached to the season.
Clubs have so many jobs from auskick to seniors.
All of which are non paid jobs.
It's all well and good to change things and add more responsibility to clubs from a meeting in an airconditiond room.
The impact it has on clubs is not understood.

Double a lot of these jobs up in juniors as well.
Probably a lot i missed.
The point is when does it become too much for the limited amount of volunteers.
If you want change then I would love to see the dollar amount reducing for a start.
How about aflq try and raise money not taking it out of clubs pockets.
A lot of their revenue comes form club fees.
So called talent identification days open to any kid who pays the fee.
Big money in that set up.
Finals
Fines
The only way it can happen is if aflq generate an income outside of club and player money.
If was in charge I would have a full time employee solely for the purpose of getting sponsors.
Not just for them but for all clubs.
Have a person knocking on doors in every suburb getting more sponsors for clubs.
Show your willing to help.
My dear old dad said.
Son never take out more than you put in its not the done thing.
I think head office should think about that.

And then they have rep games where they spend a fortune on new jumpers and apparel.
The Pinnacle of football is playing AFL, leagues never get their best players playing, It’s a waste of time , resources and money at the expense of the clubs.

It seems your well informed on this.
As it will happen what's the penalty for stuffing up and going over for a game.
Is there now someone who is going to look at every team every week as to points.
Will teamsheets now have a section for points.
Seems like a lot of more work placed on the clubs.
The penalty is discretionary, and AFLQ decide the penalty at their own discretion

Teamsheets already have a section for points

When you enter them in SprtsTG they tally it up, though unfortunately it includes emergencies - so you have to then subtract them, then consider the possibilities if there is a late change.

Of all the myriad of extra work created for clubs in recent years, this is a relatively minor one. the only downside being that the governing body kept no records of games prior to 2009, to proving a bloke is a club junior can be hard some times.

We had no issue with the points and it was 5 minutes extra work a week at best.

I can see now how lower divisions will have problems.
You pick a team on Thursday nite and it usually changes by Saturday.
Sometimes at the very last minute.
Hopefully the system will cope with all the late changes.
As it's going to happen a lot every weekend.
As far as a junior goes they will just have to take the players and club word on that.
If you don't have records you have no argument.

Not really.

Pick your 22 and emergencies, then look at the points of the emergencies and what impact that could have if there is a late change.

Tommo is right, sorting out your points is one of the easier tasks you will have

So any word yet on who’s likely or whispered to coach Coomera, Coolangatta and Robina?

Will Burleigh be a force after dropping back a division?

Early top 5 prediction would be
Bond
Kenmore
Cooly
Burleigh
Robina or Carrara if they pick up a few.

Maybe Byron if the snag a few southern recruits could sneak into 5th, be interesting to see how they go after domination in their Comp
Coomera coach dale Turner

Apparently Carrara has got Broadbeach’s reserve coach for the last two seasons as an assistant and a few handy fringe players following him, if so Carrara could be the big improvers next Season.
Anyone any names ?

Most rumours on this forum at this time of year are normally rubbish but jeez thats a great call

Not sure a club directly announcing player is a “grapevine”. Some of you blokes are pretty simple... not hard to look at Facebook announcements and have facts. 3 pirates off to the swans, the Rutledge boys not only terrific young blokes but both can play. And Wardo is a solid pickup. Added a few rippers now, would be great to see the swans headed back up the ladder. Some great people have worked hard to rebuild the club the last few years, all due for some success. Pirates with a few to replace but I’m sure Blocker will have recruits coming in, he’s the best in the business at bringing talent to the pirates

All 3 players go with Pirates blessing as they have brought a lot to our club in such a short time.

Ripping lads that have made life long friendships at our club and will always be welcomed back for reunions to celebrate their time at our club.

Think we will be ok with what we have retained and have coming in, few surprises up our sleeve.

Not sure what points the boys will attract but by my calculations will all be 5 or 6 pointers so Pine Rivers must have a lot of 1 pointers to accomodate them.

They would be strange cases blocker.

Could be considered 2 pointers as they are moving up a division from where they last played. The things that makes it hard to calculate is that the club they are leavng have changed divisions, and its unclear if its based on the previous season or the current one.

It’s a tough one and one we had to speak to the AFLQ about. Either way we had to consider both options with points and take them into account. We had the room in the end.

We’ve had a lot of blokes stick with the club through a tough few years so we’re fortunate they’ve been rewarded with point deductions for loyalty. Our strongest team last year was only worth 23 points leaving us a bit of room for recruitment.

Hoping now to be competitive in the competition and chalk up a few wins. 0-18 certainly wasn’t fun :( I’d gladly never go through that again!

if they only rate them 2 points then any players we recruit should be same basis which I have been informed is not the case.

They told us all the Rutledge boys, Wardo, Overington, Cestor would be 3 points for us this season. Only discount was 1 point for this being their 3rd year at club.

so if they are not at our club should be 4 points due to playing QAFL and add 2 points for going to club in same division.

They are hitting us with 2 points for players we recruit from same level so they have already set the benchmark.

Don’t think any of it is right considering what League put us through 2 years ago. And probably not fair on a lot of other clubs as well.

Im hearing head office already giving certain clubs relaxations to the points which opens a whole can of worms.

It’s a bit harsh giving them a 2 point penalty. Considering no one knew what comp the pirates were going to end up in ?

Like I said eairler this points system will be a problem for lower division clubs.
Who judges what a player is worth.
If there's not one set of clear rules in place for everyone then you shouldn't have rolled it out yet.
Why cut one club slack and inforce the rules on another.
A clear example of what everyone hates.
Don't worry it will probaly only be in for two years.

You're only considered a QAFL player if you have played 5 or more senior QAFL games in the last 3 seasons.

Unsure on the players in question, but if they don't meet that criteria, then my reading on the rules is that they would be 2 pointers as they are moving from Div 4 to Div 2.

Looking at the Kenmore recruiting, they are going to be tight! I count 18 odd points from the latest 4 announcements!

Its actually pretty straight forward Outa - who decides is based on a matrix, not a person or persons. The only conflict will eb around a club like Pirates who dropped back in unusual circumstances and now go up quickly. There might be some other exceptions but in the main its a great system and very easy to follow - you should ask the powers at Kedron for a copy
