Prediction Possible pick swaps

You obviously don't rate Green, I though think he is the number 1 in the draft and if he was playing in Vic with no academy he would be getting more love and he and Rowell would be a toss up.

GC want Rowell and Anderson for a number of key reasons and retention is the main one

You obviously can't read.

GWS wouldn’t match. Trade up live to 4 and grab the ruck. Can grab Green in 2 years for a bargain.

Anderson and Rowell want to come to GC you draft them. It’s pretty simple in their mind and rightfully so

Under my scenario the Suns get picks 1, 2 and 3. They still get Rowell and Anderson.

Good luck with that one won’t happen. GC will want collateral for next year. You don’t spend all your chips this year.

Here's an idea for a Possible Pick swap that could help both GWS & Freo get Green and Liam Henry respectively.

It is expected that Tom Green will get an offer within the Top 5. While Henry is expected to get a pick at approximately 7-10.

At the start of the draft
GWS trade Pick 6
For Fremantle 2020 1st Round Pick & Pick 22.

Once Tom Green is bid upon GWS can use Pick 22, 40, 59 & 60 to gain enough points for Green.

Fremantle get to pick up two Top young talents at Pick 6 & 7.

Once Freo gets past there two picks and Liam Henry is still on the board.

Fremantle Trade Pick 10
For GWS' (Fremantle's 2020 1st Round Pick) & GWS (North Melbourne 2020 3rd Round Pick).

Fremantle could bundle up the North Melbourne 2020 3rd Round Pick & the Collingwood 2020 3rd Round Pick to get back into the 2019 Draft. Some ideas on clubs who may be interested in Freo's additional 2020 3rd round picks:
  • Brisbane for 48, 52 & 55 (Brisbane's 4th, 5th & 6th pick in this years drafts)
  • Richmond for 39 & 56 (Richmond's 3rd & 5th pick in this years draft)
  • Adelaide 37 & 49 (Adelaide's 4th & 6th Picks in this years drafts)

Freo then ends up with Pick 6, 7 & Henry.

While GWS ends up with Tom Green & Pick 10.

I didn't think you were allowed to trade out a pick and then trade it back in.

What if someone bids henry before pick 6
Messes up both sides huge

Good point— I was just going based off what people suggested was the current prediction for offers to come in.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gold Coast trade with Melbourne for pick 3.

They then bid on Green at pick 1 and completely blow the Giants out of the water.

They then pick Rowell and Anderson at 2 and 3.

Less likely the go home factor for a kid from Canberra.

If Giants match pick 1 the Suns can pick Jackson at 4 and have a developing young ruckman.

What would they give up for pick 3?

No, that's a terrible outcome for Melbourne.

Not that I made the original suggestion but would-

Gold Coast 2020 First Round Pick & Gold Coast 2020 Mid-First Round Compensation Pick be adequate for Pick #3?

Most likely pick 1 next year.

I would have thought that 15 and 20 this year and pick 11 next year would be a great deal for both.

You thought wrong, it won't happen. Melbourne will most likely only use 2 picks, they've also traded into this year, why would they then trade out?

Also, alot can happen in 12 months, no one knows what GC's pick will be next year

Won't happen

Be realistic, do you really think GC will bid green at one regardless Rowell is from Vic or not.

If a bid Come in at three
Point 2234- 20% = 1787
Fremantle pick 22 became pick 23 = 815
Pick 40= 429
Pick 59=158
Pick 60= 148
Add up 1550
Still not enough point.

Trade the 2020 3rd Round Pick that GWS got from North Melbourne for a pick in the early 50's and there's enough points-- or take a small hit on the 2020 1st round pick.

My suggestion, pick 6 and GWS future first for Gold Coast pick 15, 20, + Gold Coast future first pick 11. ( from AFL assistance).

Gold Coast get 3 top 10 pick this year, and GWS future first most probably range from 12-18.
Gws get Green, keep pick 40 and 59,60. (actually pick 38 and 57 and 59 if they use 15 and 20 for Green) and Next year pick 11. On trade night GWS still can use future pick 11 and other future pick to swap with Fremantle or other teams.

What benefit does GWS get out of that situation?
From what your suggesting they give up Pick 6 for picks to use on a Tom Green bid and:
  • To keep Pick 49, 59 & 60
  • Trading their 2020 Pick for Next Years Pick 11.
GWS have already traded their original first round Picks from this year (12 & 18) to Pick #6 in an attempt to get another First round Pick this year in addition to Tom Green.

The Giants are IMO trying to get Top 10 players in this years draft without having to give away a 2020 Draft pick. The option I suggested achieves that-- not sure how the option you've suggested gives the GWS more top end talent.

How is your option gave GWS top end talent? If GWS can't move up the only option is to move down like your option. Your option can't even allow GWS to keep pick 40,59,60. Only get green because afl don't allow you to trade the same pick with the same team, in this case is Fremantle future 1st. Once Fremantle trade future 1st to GWS they cannot get it back from GWS but other team. Last year Sydney swap pick with Eagles cause AFL to close that loop hole.
