We won't know ourselves having our other captain back out there.

Pure leader. Great communicator. Absurdly good footballer.

Even if he is only back to 80% output our defence and transition from defence will sky rocker.

Our defence is so much more organised when Doc is out there...

It's great to see so many forgotten types out and about looking good.

Docherty - All-Australian who hasn't played since 2017.

Macreadie - A very forgotten type on here. Played a bit of footy in his first season and really wasn't far behind Weitering at the time in development. Good reader and interceptor and a really good field kick. Unusual for a tall player like that to play and play pretty well in his first year but he did and has since missed a lot with injuries. Was talk at the point of his drafting that he might have been a bit of a steal and I had him as a potential to push his way in a a key defender around 2020 or 2021.

Williamson - Like Macreadie but to a higher level he played in his first year and was really good. Fast, competitive and a lethal kick. Most have had him in their best 22 for a few years but after pretty much 2 seasons of next to no football he's became a bit forgotten.

I'll be looking forward to see how some of our players who played a bit but were underdone a lot go as well. Curnow, McGovern, Cuningham, Setterfield, Kennedy, DeKoning and Marchbank. Plenty of talent in that list.

Obviously there's also the natural progression expected fro our youth as well. Exciting times if we can put on a good preseason and get a lot of improvement into these names and those 1-5 year players.

Doubt it, but I do hope they go away together.

Say what you will about Bolton and his coaching, he created a terrific environment, particularly for the younger players. And I have no doubt those camps would’ve helped.
Power may do something similar

If we can get him and Doc back across half back for the whole year, my god it would improve our transition beyond words we really would be on the rise with a bullet, no scratch that we would be on the rise with a nuke, and god help opposition defences if we get our transition fired up, Charlie, Harry and McGov would be salivating at the prospect of quick accurate ball movement.

Yeah bullet quick passes off half back .

I wonder, and worry, what role they are going to give Fish next year, really struggled playing as a forward, whether that had to do with coming back from his broken leg or just not suited to it is anyone’s guess.

He really needs to be around the contest to use his inate ability to win the ball and dish it out or step his way through the traffic and deliver the ball down field in his trusty left peg, but his light frame just doesn’t allow him to stand up in the contest or more importantly the tackle.

I’m not sure if Teague will be prepared to give him the time he needs in the middle and unless he can learn some tricks from Eddie about playing a small forward role I worry for Fish’s confidence and future, he might even look for a move back to the West if he doesn’t feel like his career is heading in the right direction which would be a damn shame as he really looked the goods in 2018 before he broke his leg.

I just really hope he can get back to that 2018 form next year as he is certainly best 22 when up and running on the ball, and one of my personal favourites, who can forget that double move followed by the diving handball that was turned into a GIF by someone on here, just poetry in motion.

Edit: Also needs to really work on his marking, could do a lot worse than working with Simmo to improve this side of his game, especially on out positioning his opponent, as Simmo is a very good mark for his size over a very long career and is a specialist at out positioning bigger opponents.

Exactly it’s not all about leg speed coming out of half back when you have great kicks like Doc that can open up the game just as effectively, if not more so, by hitting up targets 40 Mtrs down the field in the corridor, although having someone like Willo that has both is just special.

You must not have gone out to eat. I've never finished a meal there other than at the Honolulu Cheesecake Factory. We ordered an entree each and actually finished it but had to return the next day to have a cheesecake.

Pleased to read Jimmae's observations on Dow. I was thinking he's been restricted in upper body strength work because of his shoulder issues, similar to JSOS early on, and he should make good strides there from now on.

All upside with Paddy imo. Confident he'll put 2nd year blues behind him. Imo was always gonna be a bit of a slow burn....then bang.
