You cant even fill your own ground against an interstate team - guess they dont allow dog or cats in the mcg

You know they don’t count pets into official membership numbers right? Like nobody could be dumb enough to believe that they do. Anywho we also have to cater for AFL members, MCC members etc. but we still do alright (highest average home ground crowd)

Have a look at your attendance record vs interstaters.

thats where you sort the wheat from the chaff - thats where you know for a fact whether its your supporters making up the numbers - not the other team you are playing

Yep, check it out then. The Brisbane Rd 23 game wasn’t bad. 75k+ or something like that

How did your average go

That AFL Tables page I showed you earlier today— it’ll change your life.

Richmond’s home average—59,987
West Coasts Home average- 53,513

saying that— not sure if I’d really call West Coast a ‘minnow’ personally.

Plus the R22 Richmond V West Coast game was my favourite in person game of the 2019 season.

Personally I thought the North/Richmond game was the best game this season. For the first half the commentators were saying the Dusty was back to his very best and that we were lucky to still be in it, and then in the second half we rammed a red hot poker up Dusty's arse and blew the toothless Tigers out of the water. All in Shaw's first game as interim coach. Brilliant stuff.

Round 22 Richmond vs West Coast was one of the best games I have ever been to full stop.
Eagles got out of the blocks, Tigers came back and then in the last quarter every time Richmond looked they had it won, the Eagles just willed their way to find a goal when they needed it.
Was an absolutely brilliant game of footy.

255,000 across five matches, avg 51,000, including a game at Marvel which a LOT of Richmond supporters don’t like attending.

Never really understood that.

marvel is the prototype modern stadium

Marvel is soulless. When you arrive at the ground there is no sense of occassion. It wasn’t that great to start with and it became worse when they added buildings around the concourse between the train station and the stadium.

Once inside the ground it is usually dank, particularly when the roof is shut. A lot of it feels very monotonous, like you could be anywhere in the stadium. Each level feels somewhat like the last and there is no variety within the level.

It also feels like everything is corporate. There is no feeling or history.

I agree it’s mostly a good place to watch footy. Some services (toilets, food, etc) feel like they are further away than they should be for a modern prototype stadium. So maybe it’s a modern prototype but it has been superseded.

Without a doubt - i feel like optus took the best from marvel and made it better with new design aspects.

but itellya - coming from the toilet that was subi - marvel was amazing - the views of the game it affords to its worst seats s**t all over the mcg

Of course it has better views, it’s got roughly half the capacity of the G

The Ponsford/Olympic/Members stands at the G (which are really just one thing) are great facilities, better than Docklands for sure. The Southern Stand is pretty crappy by comparison though, probably due to be rebuilt or at least heavily refurbished soon, it is approaching 30 years.

We shouldn’t have to travel to play u minnows though when we could almost fill your ground twice over #mcgforever

You can't even fill your own stadium, let alone ours 2x over.

Richmond home ground attendance against interstate opponents 2019:

V Sydney 40,053
V GWS 40,053
V Port 41,642
V West Coast 57,415
V Brisbane 76,995

Overall, their drawing power is pretty poor.

The only two teams that they got over 50, 000 is the two interstate teams with big Victorian fanbases.

Reality is that Richmond needs help from opposition supporters to get over 50K at their games.

Smallest crowd at West Coast home game was 47,497 against Gold Coast.

Going by your logic all Vic sides must be crap.

Did you factor in the the two team town?

Or maybe that if Eagle fans want to see their side play it has to be against an interstate side 10 times per year?
