Hey davo,
Just read the whole thread and thoroughly enjoyed it :thumbsu:
Thanks for the info and hard work.
Going from your takes I would love
- Kemp to slip to our first
- a late bid for finn so we may still have 42 and I hope Schoenfeld is still there.
Cheers

C: Darcey Chirgwin - Dylan Stephens - Mitch O'Neill
HF: Connor Budarick - Liam Delahunty - Dylan Williams
F: Rhai Arn Cox - Sam Flanders - Josh Rayner
R: Luke Jackson - Tom Green - Noah Anderson
INT: Andrew Courtney - Jackson Mead - Jack Mahony - Malcolm Rosas - Kysaiah Pickett - Josh Worrell

Team Bartel:

B: Jeremy Sharp - Jack Buller - Karl Finlay
HB: Lachlan Potter - Will Gould - Ryan Gardner
C: Matt Rowell - Caleb Serong - Hugo Ralphsmith
HF: Darcy Cassar - Fisher McAsey - Cameron Taheny
F: Mitchell Georgiades - Emerson Jeka - Elijah Taylor
R: Bigoa Nyuon - Hayden Young - Cooper Stephens
INT: Hewago Paul Oea - Will Chandler - Trent Rivers - Jack Bell - Flynn Perez - Will Martyn

thoughts on where some of them stand now:

Charlie Dean - went from promising FB, to FF who started strongly, but had a below average champs and end to season
Darcey Chirgwin - injury held him back, but his late season form was impressive, he is rising in my draft rankings
Liam Delahunty - inconsistent, shows potential in bursts, might go late?
Josh Raynor - i really didnt like what i saw from him in the nableague and champs
Dylan Williams - well rumour has it he has stress fractures in his back and has been injury plagued this season, but when you play you declare yourself fit, his form this season has been shoddy(games where he gets consolation goals and is missing for 90% game time or misses relatively easy shots ect) and last year he got a lot of credit based on his finals performances, has a lot of skill when he gets it right, but if you judge his entire 2 year history it isnt as strong as you need it to be to be a top 10 pick.
Rhan Arn Cox - have not seen play??? unknown
Andrew Courtney - unlikely to be drafted imo, but if a club is desperate for a ruck to develop he might get a rookie spot?

Jack Buller - unlikely to be drafted imo
Lachlan Potter - has speed and loves a run, problem is he runs into trouble and doesnt do team first footy imo, i saw him play a good game last year and had high hopes, but now im unsure if he gets drafted?, possibly rookied?
Ryan Gardner - has good skills, but seems like he is in slow motion and has not impressed me this season, except for a couple of CHF games where he linked mid and forws, but he is too small to do that at AFL level
Hugo Ralphsmith - i didnt see him play school footy but apparently he has some good form there, his Sand form and VM form were not good imo
Cameron Taheny - went into this year looking like a top 10 talent and his SANFL form was indicating that as well, but then the red flags started popping up for me reducing his value a bit(attitude, form, head drop)
Mitch Georgiades - injured all year, but should go earlier than people are predicting imo
Emerson Jeka - if only he could kick over 1 goal a game on average instead of 0.8 goals a game
Bigoa Nyuon - i know some people like him as a smokey, i just dont see it myself
Will Chandler - skilled player but has no desire to play quality footy imo, missed out on playing for the Allies as well.
Jack Bell - generic ruck, unlikely to be drafted imo
Will Martyn - his best asset is poss accumulation and at the champs that failed him, not overly skilled or clever with the footy, apparently can play a bit as a forw, have not seen him play as a forw though, unlikely to be drafted imo

Cox has some immense talent - he kicked the winning goal after the siren to beat VC back in 2017 at the U16 Championships. Has had some off-field concerns which I won't delve into, but that's why you haven't seen much of him. He returned to the WAFL later in the year which was good to see, but reckon he has to prove himself for a bit longer. Very light small forward.

Just going over some vision of the WAFL Colts highlights, as i think the WAFL and WA is less covered and might be a gold mine for talent when you look at population growth in WA and the lack of people scouting the talent in WA... means that most likely some high end talent might slip through the gaps moreso than Vic and SA.

a few players caught my eye:

Nicholas Martin - i see he got a combine invite this year, seems to be good in the air and has good agility.
Sebit Kuek - an African short ruck/tall forw that has good athleticism and agility, also seems to have a competitive streak, very slim, theres something there potentially in time?
Kade Wallrodt - very impressive mid, liked the way he plays and i see he has played some WAFL Reserves this year, no combine invite, so might have missed out, but i liked the way he played, could be one to look out for as a 19 year old? i will try and keep an eye out for him next season.
Ira Jetta - i believe he is in the 2020 draft pool and looks a talent, cant wait to see him play in next years champs.
Abraham Clinch - accumulator and general mid that seems to have some talent.

Really like the mention of Clinch. One I think will be a real talent but might have to make his way through the WAFL

Great thread thanks mate.

Not many bother to predict the picks after 30 which is where it gets tough and interesting.

On your top 50 I'd be surprised if Freo went that early on Robertson. Seems to be better users of the ball at 7 and Freo need good users.

Henry I can see getting bid on later in t h e 1st and take out Freo's pick 21.

Collingwood going for a winger with their 1st would also surprise given their lack of kp young talent and their over supply of mids.

But it's all opinion and guesswork at this stage.

Thanks again.

Brisbane hardly ever draft Vic Metro players but you've got them taking 3 in their first 3 picks was this more on a needs basis or do you see this happening on draft Conole has a liking for Vic Country players

i see Phantom Drafts as more a predictor of what might happen, i dont think any of them are very accurate as clubs have different recruiting strategies, im just putting out a predictor of what i think clubs might do with their picks, especially the first round which clubs are interested in which players and where they could go, after the first round i just connect players i feel are the types those clubs usually draft in recent history, that was my philosophy for this Phantom Draft, i also used some information from each club boards and which names popped up regularly for the first round picks, but that was a couple of weeks ago and im sure things have changed.

if i had to predict the first round top 20, this would be my prediction, with a cheat at pick 20 as a team looking for a small forw might go either option

1. Matthew Rowell
2. Noah Anderson
3. Brodie Kemp
4. Tom Green
5. Sam Flanders
6. Caleb Serong
7. Lachlan Ash
8. Hayden Young
9. Dylan Stephens
10. Luke Jackson
11. Liam Henry
12. Deven Robertson
13. Fischer McAsey
14. Will Gould (only because of his combine, otherwise he would be around pick 8, rumour is he lost 6kgs since combine, unsure if rumour is true?)
15. Trent Rivers
16. Cooper Stephens
17. Miles Bergman
18. Jeremy Sharp
19. Trent Bianco
20. Cody Weightman/Dylan Williams (depending on which small forw is in favour by the club picking)

another i wanted to add was Trey Ruscoe*

Great thread thanks mate.

Not many bother to predict the picks after 30 which is where it gets tough and interesting.

On your top 50 I'd be surprised if Freo went that early on Robertson. Seems to be better users of the ball at 7 and Freo need good users.

Henry I can see getting bid on later in t h e 1st and take out Freo's pick 21.

Collingwood going for a winger with their 1st would also surprise given their lack of kp young talent and their over supply of mids.

But it's all opinion and guesswork at this stage.

Thanks again.

Now that we’ve got a coach that actually values skills you’ll see us in a different light.

Kysaiah Pickett has an invite to the draft i think i read somewhere so a club might have him as a first round pick which i can see the reasoning, but im not 100% in aggreeement with, but as i said in another thread he is very similar to his uncle Byron Pickett in that he is quick on the burst, very strong build and can hurt opponents with a bump and has good goal sense, the slight differences are height/a little fumbly and lack of aggression that Byron had, but very similar type of player.

Hey Davo, any handy small forwards likely to get our later picks?

theres 4 small forwards who will likely go late in the draft imo.

Ned Cahill - Dandenong 179cm 78kg
had a great 2018 finals series in which Dandenong won the premiership, was a solid contributor for VC although Weightman outshone him there for VC, 12 games for 17 goals this season and is a player that loves to set up team mates for a goal as well as kicking goals himself, spent a bit of time in midfield this season also and had decent combine results, kicked 6 goals in 4 games for VC at the champs

Josh D'Intinosante - Northern Knights 177cm 78kg
won the b&f at Northern as an underager and runner up in the b&f this season, isnt an athlete, but just a blue collar footballer that gets the job done, kicked 32 goals in 16 games for Northern, didnt get an opportunity for VM in the champs, a contested player who can make things happen in the forward line through hard work and sheer force of will

Josh Gore - Gold Coast Academy 177cm 75kg
active small forward who takes advantage of opportunities kicking goals from all angles and all situations, was good for GCS A in their nableague campaign where they ended up champions of the northern academies kicking 10 goals in their 5 games, then got a call up to the Allies helping them be more competitive kicking 5 goals in 3 games and also played in the neafl for 13 goals in 11 games

Tyrone Thorne - Peel 169cm 57kg
very small forw who is a talented young aboriginal forw, good speed and athleticism and can kick a bag of goals, kicked 5 goals in 3 games for WA in the champs, kicked 16 goals in 8 games at Colts level and debuted in the WAFL kicking a goal in 2 games.

all 4 have pros and cons, all 4 are worthy of a late pick or rookie spot, Cahill has been on my radar for awhile after his 2018 finals performances though and i like his team orientated football a bit more.
