Lets take a UFC approach to the issue of 2018 versus 2019:

Sam Walsh vs Matthew Rowell
Jack Lukosius vs Tom Green
Izak Rankine vs Liam Henry
Max King vs Luke Jackson
Connor Rozee vs Sam Flanders
Ben King vs Fischer McAsey
Bailey Smith vs Noah Anderson
Tarryn Thomas vs Brodie Kemp
Chayce Jones vs Caleb Serong
Nick Blakey vs Josh Worrell

Jye Caldwell vs Deven Robertson
Zac Butters vs Dylan Stephens
Isaac Quaynor vs Lachlan Ash
Jackson Hately vs Finn Maginess
Jordan Clark vs Hayden Young
Ned McHenry vs Trent Bianco
Sam Sturt vs Miles Bergman
Xavier Duursma vs Elijah Taylor
Liam Stocker vs Jay Rantall
Riley Collier-Dawkins vs Trent Rivers

Ely Smith vs Cooper Stephens
Xavier O'Halloran vs Jeremy Sharp
Jez McLennan vs Angus Baker
Ian Hill vs Kysaiah Pickett
James Rowbottom vs Sam Philp
Rhylee West vs Cody Weightman
Tom Sparrow vs Jackson Mead
Xavier O'Neill vs Thomson Dow
Will Kelly vs Will Gould
Will Hamill vs Will Day

30 intense battles for octagon supremacy, the last two bouts are a bit Will-ing (boom tish), no order
intended just looking for match ups to excite the crowd.

from my independent PoV

2018
Elite - Walsh, Blakey, B.King, M.King, B.Smith, Lukosius, Rankine, Rozee, Clark, Thomas, Caldwell
2nd Tier - Duursma, Butters, Jones, Hately, McHenry, Sturt, E.Smith, O'Halloran, McLennan, Hill, West
3rd Tier - Quaynor, Stocker, Collier-Dawkins, Rowbottom, Sparrow, O'Neill, Kelly, Hamill

2019
Elite - Rowell, Anderson (close to elite Jackson, Kemp)
2nd Tier
- Green, Young, Flanders, Serong, D.Stephens, Robertson, Ash, Gould, McAsey, Henry (close to 2nd Tier Rivers, Sharp)
3rd Tier
- C.Stephens, Worrell, Day, Bianco, Taheny, D.Williams, Pickett, Bergman, Weightman, Maginness, Mead, Ruscoe, Georgiades, Rantall

something like that at a guesstimate?

Pickett, D.Williams and Taheny could be higher on pure talent, but with all 3 something is holding them back and they need to prove they can get past their issues for me to rate higher, for Pickett its Fumbling and form issue, for D.Williams its an injury issue and form issue, for Taheny its attitude issue and form issue.

Looking at these players and there is probably only 5/6 i would swap Sydney Stack for at this stage and he could possibly be in the best 3 players by the end of his career
