I think they have forgotten their core product - men's football.

They have placed enormous energy in netball and women's football. I'm not opposed to any of these things but there were no extra resources for it. The staff levels at HQ remain about the same.

If they want this diversity, fund it and support it. If it cant pay for itself - get rid of it.

Any idea why

Doesn’t give a whole lot of info on the reason. I think cost and a general lack of support from a lot of leagues.

Interesting idea put forward by the Phillip Island coach in that article, a Champions league style knockout comp for premiership winning clubs with financial rewards involved.

Whispers;
Cathcard Port Melb Colts. Going to Gippsland possibility to play with cousin Luke James.
Look for departures form East Malvern, unhappy (??) campers.
A few St Pauls guns going overseas this year, stocks getting low on Premiership 18 players.
And D La boys at Mordi heading home.

Reckon its Dingley’s to lose again next year. Chelt will be a threat and note they have recruited VFL gun Olly Tate. Massive pick up. Can seriously play.

Seems to be heaps of departures from Mordy. DLS lads apparently want to finish their footy where they started which is fair enough but hearing quite a few others who have been there a while also heading elsewhere. Any ideas why? Likewise have heard a big shake up at East Malvern following the coaches departure.

Seems a few of the recent challengers might have to rebuild again.

Semmel from Mordi going to play at Huntly next year with his brothers. Jake will be a loss for us at Beena he's been a bull in the midfield for us

That’s what it is. Leagues are forking our a lot of money to participate

See St Pauls ( at AGM coming up) are looking at a name change to St Pauls McKinnon to adopt junior club name and the juniors to wear senior 'DOGGIES' jumpers so both on same path going forward. A very positive move for the further for both clubs.

Well Dingo's signed a few experienced oldies. Terech (ex Chelsea Heights and E Malvern), Wilson (ex St Pauls and Murrumbeena) and Cam Hansen (ex St Kilda City and South Belgrave). I know Wilson is in a coaching role but the other 2 will add toughness to their on ball dept.
Any other "Whispers" from other Div 1 sides.

Played against Cam Hansen in preseason game, he's a wrecking ball

I honestly didn't think Terech did a terrible lot at Seaford this year and watched a few games, only to see him be named in the best, if not the best.

Port Colts clear favourite to win the comp with Kwame & Perkins from Deer Park returning to SFNL to play at Murphy Reserve.

very interesting, If this is the case It will be a clear 3 horse race (dingley, colts & cheltenham).

Away from those 3 who are we thinking maybe improvers for 2020.

East Malvern seem to have lost some of the core group (coach, Carey, sumner) as an onlooker this year, Carey was a force and they will struggle to find a replacement.

bentleigh are a team not many are talking about but from reports on their site they are picking up quite a few..

City, not much news out of there? Any reports? They have been moving along quietly for the first time in some years...

Anything else from St. Paul’s, highett or doveton?

Hearing that Dovey Eagles having an Extraordinary General Meeting to discuss future....................

Whole league is in a bit if strife IMHO.

Only 4 Div 1 clubs bothered to field an u19s team last year and it was effectively a 2 horse race with City & Dingley all year. The league and clubs need to start respecting the u19s as the bridge between junior and senior football and if a club like Mordi with so many kids in the area cant field an under 19 team then the league is stuffed.
