Traded GWS trade #6 and future R1 pick (tied to GWS) to Adelaide for #4

Victorian teams pick up their young talent for packets of chips.

And none of the uninjured players they moved cheaply would be best 22 now. They've kept all the players they've thought were untouchable. It's no surprise that even the good players they've let go have had massive weaknesses to their games. Such is the conveyor belt of talent, they can shed A graders yearly and improve their finishing position.

Father sons as well?
F/S concession does not produce anywhere near the quality or quantity of players the northern academies do for only 2 clubs!
As a Hawthorn supporter, I'd gladly take the Giants academy in over every eligible father/son our ex-players might produce into the future.

You're not being serious if you think they are any thing alike.

Hawthorn gave GWS a few bag of chips for scully and patton. North paid very little for bonner. During their Peak hawthorn don't even have a spot for Sydney Josh Kennedy F/s

Imagine trading pick 19 in a super draft for pick 20+ in a compromised draft to go from pick 9 to 6 this year and more then likely end up with the same player anyway.

How's Stocker going? Swing and a miss. Hamish pulls talent from any part of the draft pool. Your blokes managed to screw up a whole bunch of top picks. Let's not even compare our respective teams' ability to draft.

If Scully and Patton weren’t on ridiculous overs they probably would’ve had to cough up more.

What goes around comes around, look at Carlton, so many former first round GWS players that come cheap but compare to Richmond Lynch and Prestia still got a long journey, could come good but could be bad also with a few already delisted.

There’s no chance Melbourne bid on Green at 3. Too similar to what they have.

GWS seem happy enough to take Jackson anyway.
They should bid on green, no way giants won’t match the bid for one of their academy boys so highly rated. Melbourne should keep them honest and not let them have a free hit at another top draftee.

I feel like GC and GWS are ruining the fun of the drafts. The academies are ruining the purity of the draft. I reckon we should just scrap academies and priority picks and have a truly pure and open draft.

Port have 3 father sons coming up in just the next two years lol
If your gonna complain do it about how the hawks get access to two highly rated city boys next year 🤷‍♂️

GWS could crash next year. Many do after diasterous grand finals. Could be pick 12.

The superdraft dried up at Duursma last year. Stocker looks mediocre and after him the draft falls off a cliff. The Crows were VERY smart to cash out there. They got a lottery ticket for a number one pick.

And now they can pick the player and 6 they would have picked at 4, and get a free first round pick next year. Another lottery ticket. Genius.

It is as good as getting Carlton's second round pick for free this year, all so we didn't bid on Briggs in 2018. Fantastic.

Adelaide's whole rationale and selling point for the pick swap last year was to get a Top 1 to 4 Pick that they have never had before.

I guess Reid just didn't have the confidence in the end to pull the trigger on a Top pick. Instead they've ended up with a more generic pick 7 instead a more generic pick 10. But with the Pick 19 pushed back two years.

Todays deal is a safe way to get back to pretty much square one, but the Top Pick theory got put in the too hard basket or backfired.
There isn't a top four this year. There's a top two, and then five or six players who are all equivalent.

Reid stayed "in the top four", and picked up an extra first round pick for free. Amazing.

There is being fanatical as a supporter and also fanatical as a Richmond family member, Just to give an idea

imagine GWS win the next 6 out of 7 flags with Coniglio as captain and his family is for ever attending GWS events and his grandson growing up playing at the highest level as a junior with all this GWS inbuilt into him.

it is different just ask Maurice Rioli Jnr - Kid is mad tiger and cant wait to get to the club

Yes he was that fanatical he said he was neutral about the grand final even though he is a Richmond supporter. He and his brothers have been in the Academy for years, his family all live in Canberra so GWS is really a dream result. His only challenge is getting into the team which by his talent and work ethic he should achieve in time.

Must say, I'm really surprised to read Crows fans being happy with this...

That GWS first rounder, if one is to believe the early reports, could end up blowing way out into the 20s next year.

The Crows gave up 19 in a really strong draft (2018) and ended up with pick 4 instead of pick 9 for the trouble. They then moved back 2 positions, giving up one of the first nibbles at the next rung of about 8-10 players who are reportedly even, to come full circle and probably worse off.

Basically ended up with 6 and 25ish for 9 and 19. Just why? They could have had a better pick in probably a stronger draft and had two years of development into him and just picked 3 spots later in the top 10 this year. Seems like a bizarre set of trades to me.

There's three or four first round quality academy picks next year, one of which is Adelaide's.

GWS could take a step back after a horrific grand final. Lets say they bomb out in the first week of the finals. That pick, even with Academy folks, could be much closer to 14 -16.

Pick 19 wasn't a great pick last year. After Duursma, almost no one played a game. The top of the draft was incredible, but the depth was lacking.

The Crows will get the player at 6 they would have drafted at 4, plus an extra first round pick. It's absolutely tremendous.

If the Crows take Stephen's at 6, would they have gotten him at 9 if they didnt trade with Carlton?

If so how would you rate a 2018 pick 19 v a 2020 GWS first rounder.

Very big chance Freo would take Stephens at 7. Unlikely he'd be there at 9.

Crows are the only team in recent times to crash so hard after a grand final.

The pick will be 15+ without factoring in all the high profile FAs and academy selections, in what is a weaker draft.

Taking a player at 6 who’d be available at 9 is just salt in the wound.

His family will become Giant supporters once he pulls the jumper on. Who they supported growing up goes out the window.

Depends on what that 2020 gws 1st rounder ends up being used for. If at the end of the 2020 trade and draft period it has been used to secure lukosius or tilthorpe for example then forgoing stocker for that would be the best bit of business the club has done for many a long year
