For that reason, Surely if the additional pick was to come this year it would be from trading a 2020 selection.I'm confused - why are we wanting to trade down when everyone else seems to want to be trading up.
Ok, I’m really confused.
What the hell do we make of Miles Bergman? I’ve watched a lot of him now. Like A LOT. And quite frankly WHEN he does something - he’s THE best player in the draft.
Let me say that again. WHEN Miles Bergman is involved in the game he’s THE BEST player in the draft.
Why?
Well let’s see. He doesn’t ever fumble. He has beautiful hands. Terrific mark. At 189 with long arms and huge leap he’s a great mark. He’s super fast. He kicks it, what SIXtY? Easy. And hits targets. He makes good decisions. The bloke is lethal. Absolutely lethal. Classic Arrow player.
So why isn’t he higher? He doesn’t get the ball. 14 possessions a game for a wing/half forward. Ok so I wrote him off due to that.
BUT he’s had multiple stress fractures and shin splints. Which must have savagely affected his training. Apparnelty this year could barely train between games due to that.
So.....is he: Gary Rohan or Patrick Dangerfield???
Honestly there seems no reason why he can’t get ‘fit enough’ for AFL. He’s all over things amazing.
So. He’s my new favourite toy. I want him badly. Like as a footballer I mean.

Simple, trade down with Cats, pick 9 and future 2nd for picks #14 and 17.....select Bergman and Pickett, and we'll be a happy lot of punters.

Matthew Lloyd who coaches Hailebury college said he was the best talent in the draft. Wonder if he could develop midfield capabilities once he gets over the injuries.Ok, I’m really confused.

Where did he say that?Matthew Lloyd who coaches Hailebury college said he was the best talent in the draft. Wonder if he could develop midfield capabilities once he gets over the injuries.
It was on one of the AFL videos that he does about 1-2 weeks agoWhere did he say that?
If it’s true Doggies are keen on Bergman we wouldn’t get him with the geelong trade as they have the pick beforeJust wonder whether Bergman will be the Fyfe of this draft. “How the hell did he last that long.” In juniors for moment it’s as much about what they do wrong as what they do right.
Would we back the ability to build a tank into Bergman Vs back making Serong faster and teach him decision making and execution by foot?
Serong reminds me of a better version of Lewis Taylor and I don't know if that's a good thing. You'd have to be Zorko levels of brick shithouse to be a gun at AFL level and I can't see Serong filling out like him.

We need to be doing everything we can to try and add to #9 in order to pry #14 and #17 from Geelong so that we get another bite of the cherry in this years top 20.
They'd probably ask for next years first round pick though.

I think it depends on who is still available on the draft night at #9 and a need type of question. Why do we need to split pick 9 and get more points when we don't have any decent academy picks coming up for the foreseeable future ?
What real benefit do we get ? This draft does fall away quite after pick 12 or so apparently.

If the players that are still there don't offer that much of a step up (quality) or need for us, then it would be better to have two go at the next group than pick #9 and then #43, as the gap is too far.

Hawks' plan set in motion, and could a top-4 talent slide to Blues?
Cal Twomey and Riley Beveridge answer all of the big draft questions live on Facebookwww.afl.com.au
At 7:15 mark it's mentioned that Caleb Serong actually trained at the Blues this year as part of an AFL scholarship, so we may already have some insight into his ability.
Will be interesting to see what we do if we does fall to our pick given some phantom drafts rank him in the top 5 (outside of this forum at least).
