ha ha, just to muddy up everything al over again

the summary is that gold coast is after melbournes pick 8 by doing a double pick swap in the teens, which means the dees would switch focus from Pickett at 8 to weightman at 15, leaving picket to us who apparently we are gagging for.
This pick swapping is too much for me, when’s the draft!!!

I was happy last year but I remember previously that BigFooty groupthink had me convinced that Naughton was a terrible pick and Kieran Collins was the messiah, so I've decided I'm not going to get too emotional either way before a ball's kicked from now on haha

yeah funny how it all turns out , was ecstatic when we drafted Bont , excited when we went Stringer and pissed off we drafted MaCrae .
Also put me In the very happy camp when we drafted Naughton , was a massive need at the time .
you could tell he had great mitts from the carnival footage.

Get the impression he's fairly similar to Bailey Williams. Similar size, both big booming kicks and good overhead but not all that appealing to me in the first round. Think I'd prefer to try transition Williams into a wing role despite his very strange 2019 season.
Williams has a ball winning mid as a junior, Bergman is the opposite in a way - a low production, high impact player who hasn't really gone into the middle. Som really rate his kick as the best in the draft, yet one match report noted he missed a couple of goals he really should have kicked.

My draft prediction - we go with neither best available or real needs pick at 13 or 51, we go with two players who are 'around the mark' at our picks who will help Jamarra settle in because our club rate Jamarra that highly that they will start putting in the support systems to settle him into the club 12 months early.
Hence our interest in Trent Bianco, a Chargers boy that nobody rates as highly as 13-15 or Pickett as we have no indigenous players on our list right now.
FWIW the 'big slider' of the draft, Dylan Williams, also plays for the Chargers as do likely picks 1 & 2 (Rowell and Anderson).

Shame there isn't a brother rule so we can get Finlay Macrae next year as well, Jackson's brother and Jamarra's teammate.

I am stunned he is not linked to us. expected to go in our range too
Fox linked him to us a month ago, but nobody else has mentioned him to us since.

Can Bianco play on a wing? Only spot I see him fitting into on our list.
In my opinion, absolutely. He's an elite ball user and one of the most damaging players in the draft. His footy IQ and decision making is elite, and would be perfect for his forward delivery (which we need from a winger that we don't get from Hunter or Hayes). Still a little soft in terms of contested ball from what I've seen, but I'm not sure "soft" is the right word as it seems harsh. It's an area to work on anyway.

He's not a bad runner to my knowledge too, so I definitely think that the Wing or forward flank is his long term position. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why Bergman seems to be rated higher than Bianco, since I see Bianco as basically a better version of Bergman with both having similar strengths.

Still think we can afford to trade down though - If we drop a few spots in the interest of getting points for next year or bringing our second pick up, we should still be able to pick up one of Weightman, Pickett, Bianco, Bergman, etc.

As exciting as Pickett is, Weightman looks pretty exciting too. The Jamie Elliott mould can fly for marks and get front and centre. It seems every year closer to draft higher prospects drop and others people get excited about. I really like Pickett but still Weightman for me.
Kemp/Weightman
Worrell/Pickett
Bergman/Bianco.

We will go like this...

Pick 13-will end up 15 --Weightman >Gun small forward 179 cm who has big tank and will go into midfield as well very good friends with Toby McLean

Pick 53-will end up 57--Callum Park>Sweet moving left footer 189 cm playing forward as a Junior but could play wing or half back amazing kick on him..

Pick 78-will end up 83--Dyson Hilder>197cm Full back half back great kid

if he is gone we should pick up Fraser Phillips

Hilder will be long gone by 83. We’d be lucky if he slipped through to 53.

If Hilder is gone we should go for Fletcher Roberts.

Does anyone else think having only two genuine ruckmen on the list is one too few? I get the need for a small forward, I can see the benefit for another wing (still hoping Richards takes that step) and even the benefit of a young KDP to fill a void in a few years, but I don’t like the idea of only fill in types if we get a couple of injuries in the ruck stocks. I can guess Bevs views but what about you guys? ( please note “guys” used in the strictly gender neutral sense on this occasion)

Twomey on the live coverage right now, standing behind Pickett going to Melbourne rather than Weightman.
He seemed not 100% on Day to Hawks. Said he was going with that as late mail but didn't exactly sound convincing. Looks like Hawks could be that wildcard, and end up taking any of Taylor, Robertson, Weightman, Kemp or possibly even Worrell

English, Schache, Sweet and Trengove makes four POTENTIAL ruckmen on the list, although I must admit to
hating the word POTENTIAL even though it has so much POTENTIAL.

This is one reason I fancy Ben Kelly as a late pick. Ruck/KPD and good at both.

I don't think there's a lot of point in picking up players that are exclusively depth. If you're the third or fourth best ruckman on the list you're probably not going to be the difference in an AFL match. I'd rather go back to the Roughead strat and throw a defender in there to half the contest.
