Senior 17. Brodie Kemp

Pretty excited by what this guy can do. He's a big powerful guy who can really motor and is a genuine natural footballer. Oh and the hard physical stuff he can deliver is a big deal to me. Complete package type. Don't mind the risk at all. Think this draft has been very promising.

Another quality kid added to what is shaping up to be the best looking team in the AFL.

Welcome Brodie
Now learn from our captain on the best way to recover
Now that we have another 1st rounder Philp & also Stocker, you'll have no pressure. So take your time to fully recover & be ready for some games late next year

if we wanted him why did we not take him at 11 and risk missing him?

Apparently we wanted Stephens, Young or Serong at #9. We wanted Kemp but knew he'd slide further.

And sounds like Adelaide took the safe route - wanted McAsey, could have had him at 9 and got something else from us in return, but spooked and took him with the early pick. No chance Freo were after McAsey, was there.

Good luck opposition clubs finding match ups for charlie kemp crippa setters
Big boys in Cripps, Setters, Kemp, Kennedy and Jack...
Walsh, O’Brien, Willo (Cottrell?) running machines...
Stocker, Cuningham, Dow, Philp with the burst...
SPS, Fish, Martin zipping, weaving, gliding...

Kemp, like others, has other strings to his bow in terms of positional versatility. I like how he fits in.

So including Cripps, Setterfield and now Kemp, how many midfielders at this size do we need?
Bloody SOS turning KP players into midfielders ......

SOS is no longer at GWS, but he is still drafting giants...

Was re-watching Brodie's highlights this morning with my 2 year old at the breaky table, had him yelling 'BRODIE!' every 10 seconds.

Got a feeling this kid will be a fan fave (and favourite with the ladies) very quickly. Agree with the call last night by someone about us being the perfect club for him to come to, which may explain his parents being stoked. Having Doc - an AA, 2 time ACL recoveree and the most professional guy you'll meet the the system + Jack Russell will give him the best chance of returning to his best and paying some footy next year.

Also... reckon he's already as tall (or not far off) Crippa. My god!

Welcome Kempy.

Of his highlights package, which features lots of marking and a couple of nice goals, the most exciting bit is where he 1-2s a handball at half back and absolutely scythes through a pack at pace. He's half a head taller than the players around him but can MOVE. Looks very very powerful.

Has to fully recover and find his way at the top level, but his playing idols of Cripps and Fyfe do not look like ridiculous comparisons, really. Fingers crossed.

PS - there was an article about how worried he was when he did his knee, and two AFL players contacted him and re-assured him. One of them was Doc. Don't think his smile could have got bigger at finding his way to the Blues.

Yep Doc and Brodie share the same manager, which is how they got in touch (as per AFL Road to the Draft podcast). The other player to reach out was Alex Johnson who now runs around for the Northern Blues.

that’s really good initiative from both of them, especially since they both reached out to him instead of the other way around. absolutely love it 👍
