Education & Reference Analogue Time

I'm amazed at how many kids coming into high school these days can't tell the time on an analogue clock, despite being taught it in primary school. My 18 year old nephew who recently finished school cannot tell analogue time. With everything being digitalised and few people wearing watches these days and relying on their phones it seems analogue time is going the way of the dodo. Confession time. Who on here can't read analogue time?

Kids with learning disabilities srsly struggle. I tried and tried and tried teaching it to one student, but there was no way she was going to get it. I think maybe because everything is in 100s, and then nah, time is in 60s.


FWIW, i have and always will wear an analogue watch. Smart watches and digital can fk right off.

We've taught our kids at home as our clock in the kitchen is analogue - they do teach it in school as well. Like anything, some people get it, others have trouble with it.

I hate how our kids school teaches the times table (or dont teach it - i could have sworn by grade 3 i was pretty good with the times tables - daughter is ****ing useless at them). If you ask 4 7's, she'll work out 2x7=14, double 14 is 28 (but take a minute to work it out). She gets a bit lazy with maths i reckon.

FWIW my school at Year 7 level continues with times tables. Dont think they do in Year 8 tho.

I can tell the time on an analogue clock I can't just take a quick second glance at it and tell the time like I can on a digital display. Precious seconds are saved by going digital.

I have only ever, and will only ever own analogue watches. Prefer them much over digital.

My parents taught me to tell the time when I was 3.

I like the the 24 hour clock. It was drummed into me by alcoholic surrogate ex military dad who'd tell me he'd be turning up at 0700 hrs sharp and to be in my toes with a drink for him.

I can tell the time on an analogue clock about 1 second slower than a digital clock. We got taught in primary school but I was one of the first to easily grasp the concept

Reckon raising a kid that couldn't tell analogue time was my parents biggest fear. Wasn't allowed a digital watch until after I had an analogue one first, despite all the cool kids having one. But I did eventually get that sweet, sweet Citizen Windsurfer digital watch.

Smart watches typically have an analog display mode don't they? My next watch will likely been one of those.

I was real good at it in Melbourne, not as good in Qld and crap when OS
