So we keep drafting, trading midfielders and a few defenders. When will we try fix the apparent achilles heel of ours in tall forwards?

Bit hard with NO High Picks

When we identify players who we rate better than the ones we've taken.
I thought it's pretty simple really.

I can't complain with our draft haul last night.
Shifter rated Rantall at around pick 15 and many rated Bianco inside higher than where we took him.

Obviously the number taken is irrelevant now once you're in the system but hopefully we've nailed some players - and this is where Derek earns his money--you're not always going to have those early picks to nail players so it's imperative he finds and lands players in the 2nd/3rd/4th rounds etc of drafts if we are to continue to maintain competitive.

So reading the pies social media apparently we got 3 guns after pick 40.....lol. talk about setting unreal expectations.
Every year we set the positives of our new players. Give them the generous introduction.

plenty of time for the less generous to sink the boots in.

Young Crocker joins Seedman at Adelaide.

Riley Grundy rookied At Port.

Didn't look for xfactor small fwds who are crumbing types rather then play tall leading games like ours are, this is a position that regularly gets filled with success later in drafts.

KPF is harder to fill late so agree there.

Overall sounds like we have done well with picks but wouldn't of hurt to hit the xfactor smalls as well given iirc we still had a couple free list spots.

As clubs now can “trial” players and list them later, if Lynden Dunn comes up nicely and healthy to go, he’ll be added (or kept) on our list.

otherwise we are complete.

Nb: not that the club website will update the profiles or update the photos

Personally for the hand we had, I liked what we did in this draft. I think we went with best available and I think we need more younger running players.

It seems the Pies have tried something different to other clubs and filled their key position requirements with rookies who haven’t been in the system long so have significant potential. And why not? It’s rare for a new KPP recruit to have an immediate impact anyway. Unless you have a top 12 pick to secure one, best off going to way the club is.

It’s obviously a risky strategy, but I like the fact we are not following the other clubs and looking at it from a different angle. If it’s successful and we have a couple of kids come on, it will certainly change the draft in the future.

We have a few talls who have now had a year in the system. We only need 2 to come on. In the interim, Cox is still our best bet up forward with Mihocek.
