The young Pies........

You hear the talk about hawthorn being old but
Cox, Sidebottom, Roughead, Howe, Beams, Reid, Greenwood, Mayne, Varcose, Pendlebury
is a lot of class to have to replace one day in the future

Collingwood are a very strong team [colling v wce gf, colling v gws prelim] but one wonders how long the window is open for?

How many of those are in our best ten players?

why is that?

Our average age is 24

When we add Brown and Bennell to our rookie list, 2 insignificant players overall but on the list nonetheless it will raise our average age to 24.2 which takes us from 13th to 9th.
If we delist them and add 2 crap 18 year olds our list age goes to 23.7.

Doesn't change much for us as we are already young, but a 0.5 swing would take Pies from 1st to 6th, Tigers up to 6th or down to 17th.

It's a complete joke of a way to measure a team.

Pick your best team + 3 emergencies and then work out who's list is young and old.

love the new avatar haha

When burgoyne retires, hawks a mid table in this list
Same with Geelong when Ablett & Taylor retire.

People bang on about the age of lists. There really is not all that much in it

Brisbane are a great example of this. They had the 2nd youngest overall list last season, but were regularly fielding a team with between 90-110 games experience and an average age of over 25 - would have been top 6 for both age and games played of best 22 each week. This also placed them right in the frame for team demographics who historically play finals.

Exactly, our 10 most important players would be -
May, Lever, Salem, Gawn, Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney, Petracca, Mcdonald, Melksham

Half of them are babies, the rest of our list doesn't really matter. Someone like Nathan Jones raises our age profile but realistically he's a bit part player now.

adding Bennell is increasing the age of your team

like Hawks will do if they sign Deledio

its not insignificant, there are only so many list spots and you can find good players; diamonds in the rough with these picks occasionally

Jones is still an important player at Melbourne.

you cant discount him because it suits your agenda. Will be the dees be a lesser team without Jones? yes good chance

Lol.

Its merely facts with a chance to discuss it.
