This is before we pick up any Delisted Free Agents and assuming we use 1 on Rowell, if they can stay fit there is some decent talent there.

Small forward is the hardest spot to pick. Any of Long, Parker, Lonie or Kent could play. I could also see us dropping Wilkie to allow for another small forward with Savage playing half back.

Coffield first in for any injury/drop in form.

Really like the look of this team. If Ratts gets his plan up and running there is no reason we can't play finals.

the full forward / chf duo is still a bit of a weak spot i think

the star power of a cameron or kennedy would give a much more imposing look

- depth overall is still relatively shallow
- smith and Daniher back will be big if they can stay fit
- hopefully McGrath, Parish and Langford can take that next step

This team is quite different from last years make up.
Needed a change up and some youngsters. Hope this is the way Adelaide goes. Atkins, Galluci, Hartigan, Knight, Mckay, Murphy the outsiders from memory.
IS Crocker really better than some of those guys?

yes quite different.Roughly 6 changes but all pretty good ones. Hartigan is the most fumbly defender and his a huge liability when he is kicking the ball. So McAsey could cover straight away

Doedee back will cover Keath and more

Scholl ready to go, has a great kick and can crack this team round 1.

Stengle to try and cover Eddie but won’t be able to for his first year.

McHenry probably should have got a crack last year over Knight and Galluci, but Murphy could keep him out

Yes Crocker is an interesting one. I think he offers a different look if Walker, Fogarty or Lynch have a rest. Looking forward to a challenging but exciting year. Don’t think we will be near second bottom like everyone is tipping

Hard to do this year. So many rearrangements. The top sides this year are quite easy to lock in 18-20 players with a few minor alterations. Carlton However. Maybe 10-13 players are locked.

Docherty Jones Simpson
Plowman Weitering SPS

Setterfield Walsh Murphy

Martin Mckay Mcgovern
Betts Curnow Cuningham

Kruezer Cripps Curnow

Fisher Newman Casboult JSOS

missing out: Williamson Marchbank Gibbons O’Brien Newnes Stocker Dow Kennedy Lang - all played games in 2019 except Willo. Competition is rife. And I bet no two Carlton fans will post the same 22.

Curnow won’t play till mid season so either Casboult starts and another mid like gibbons, Dow, newnes obrien get a bench spot to replace or TDK gets the gig. Marchbank I don’t rate as I think we’re too tall with him included. To replace jones eventually. Stocker could take Newman’s spot is he fails to repeat 2019 and Willo (if he gets his body right) could be anything and take Simpson’s role. All our 2019 draftees won’t see any games next year which is a big sign of our future.

That actually is a solid 22, the only worry i see, keep in mind its my personal opinion, Your forward talls in Mihocek and Cox is the Achilles heel. You desperately need to get 2 quality talls to replace them, or use a medium who plays tall. Personally i would remove Cox and replace him with Broomhead who i seriously rate. His creativity will create more opportunities for the medium and smalls around him then Cox and he will also defend, where as cox wont. Having Broomhead in will then allow Mihocek who is seriously vanilla to either mark the ball or bring it to ground, something he can do quite well.

Lol no. Just with what the pies have in talent in the forward half, I would go 1 tall only surrounded by creative mediums. Also Eliot is a great mark for his size. I just found the ball rebound to easily out of there front half with Cox in the side, particularly when he tires

I see this being the team Round 1, as I really can't see any of the 3 boys we drafted making their debuts except for maybe Hayden Young unless they have an absolutely amazing pre-season and are 100% ready to go. Rumours of Hughes playing midfield time and Logue playing forward have had me place them in those positions.

If we're playing Logue forward then we are in for a world of pain - and McCarthy should probably complete his barista training sooner rather than later (not that I'm advocating for him to start in R1 - but if Logue is preferred as a mobile medium tall forward then we are in trouble). A centre line of Hughes, Acres and Aish is also alarming because they have never played together, plus Aish and Hughes were half backs last year. Surely big brother Hill starts on the wing the place of little brother Hill if he is fit to start.

For what it's worth this is my prediction for Round One:

FB: Logue, Hamling, Ryan
HB: Wilson, Pearce, Young
C: Hill, Tucker, Aish
HF: Walters, Hogan, Taberner
FF: Matera, Lobb, Switkowski
FOL: Darcy, Fyfe, Brayshaw

Looks good. Obviously a few ifs here, as there is with just about any club, but keep somewhere close to that on the park next year and we'll challenge anyone. If Patton stays healthy and Lewis takes the next step, as we know he could, it starts to look pretty formidable again in the coming years...

Surprised to see a few rookies straight in.
A very young team.

1/3 played 20 games or less

Surprised Mead / Williams be in the best 22 ahead of Rocky, Lienert, Bonner, Atley - all different players but I'd think are closer to AFL level in round 1.

Not imo. I would be playing both Gallucci & McAdam before Crocker.

Agree on using Atkins, Hartigan, Knight & Mackay as depth as they all have limitations, so we need to bring in younger talent with an eye to the future.

If we stay healthy this year, I think we're in for a decent one.
