Senior 21. Jack Martin

I agree they paid a lot, but that was not the original point of discussion.

Shiel has been a terrific footballer for years now and the disgusting jumper he now wears doesn't change that fact. He has deficiencies in his game, his kicking can be very poor, but some of the best players in the game have very similar issues. Fyfe is a poor kick, as is Dangerfield, yet they are among the best in the game.

Many in the Richmond side aren't particularly good kicks, same for West Coast, same for most premiership sides.
I disagree.

Whilst I think Dangerfield is one of the most overrated players that has ever played the game, he has other tricks up his sleeve that gets people to continuously ignore his terrible disposal. Danger has never won a flag I might add

Fyfe has an amazing arsenal and his kicking is no where near as bad as Shiel. Fyfe can play everywhere and he is simply quite a few levels better than Shiel.

I would say the gun Tigers and Eagles players, all share the same ability to be able to dispose of the ball.

When it comes to Shiel, he is their premium player, who has the trick of being able to keep running, has speed and finding the ball. But he does not have enough trick that masks his terrible kicking and hence if you have a player like Shiel eating your cap and setting a side around them, that is not a premiership winning team.

I was really disappointed he chose them, but could not be happier right now.

With the talk around Martins value and even production to date, in 2017 I remember thinking wow this kid is going to be gun and post this tread on the main board, he was starting to really show what the hype was all about, he had patch of really high level footy that didn’t recieve much attention in Melbourne, so went under the rader, but he was a dynamic game breaker when able to get some continuity with fitness and form, he ripped us apart in one game, every time he got the ball he was dangerous.
What’s also going under the radar is how big a get Jack Martin is for Carlton particularly considering the price we paid to get him, Only a year ago when Tom Lynch left GCS, Jack Martin was widely considered the most talented player on the Suns list.
From a Carlton list fit POV a highly skilled forward/mid was required, from a forward line match up POV with all our tall key positions forwards and even Eddie Betts Martin could be getting some really favourable match ups,he’s far to good for an opposition sides 4th or 5th defender with he’s overhead marking and foot skills he could be a weapon for us..

So SOS adds another absolute elite junior talent, too add to an already stack list of young talent, we could have a special team if this all clicks, may even be one day soon.

Yeah, getting on board the far too early/premature preseason Jack Martin excitement Train.

😍😍😍

Exciting to see what Martin is capable of last night, if he can produce that consistently this year we will have managed to snag one of the recruits of the year.

We need more of him, all class.

Put it this way, if you had 22 Jack Martins playing we would be just about unbeatable.

Not against a team of 22 Patty Cripps.

Is better than I expected, could well be the best player traded in the whole comp this year and we paid zero, master is our SOS.

Not too shabby a debut, not too shabby at all.

Gets Elmer's
