On Tuesday the 3rd of December we will be embarking on a new adventure and we need you on board.

This new nation needs to build a code by which all it's citizens are held to, a set of rules they all have agreed to or were agreed to by those who were there before them.

The rules of this game are simple:

To vote you need to be a citizen, to be a citizen you have to post in the game thread.
Every new citizen has to bring a new law with them, your first duty is the proposal for a new law.
--- Be careful of your wording because once it's law, it's law and you'll need someone else to propose a change and have it passed to change that.
Only those who were citizens when you joined the community can vote on your proposal.
You can propose anything you like.
Your laws cannot be omnibus collections of multiple issues, you propose a determination on a single issue at a time - unless that law is changed.
Voting will be in the form of likes or dislikes (or donkey votes of other), if you don't have access to those functions you can reply in writing.
Debate of the proposed laws are encouraged.

As the founding member of the community my proposal for a law is to code the above as the first law.
All citizens at the time of proposal: Taylor (Who votes for and it passes)

Where this goes is going to be entirely up to the community, there can be a winner in this if the law permits.

First law now will be to ban racism.

Assuming there isnt a law banning all but one race. Before racism is even legally declared.

Damn.

Wow, you've solved racism
I vote iBeng for president

Any law that has the majority support of those who were in the community when proposed will be law.

I'm thinking when I post the game thread and my first post codified the law of the game that I might make it a 2/3rds requirement to change or repeal a law.

Is it therefore a constitutional monarchy with yourself as Taylor I?

There would need to be a constitution for that, wouldn't it? I'm not intending to write anything in the initial law that empowers any individual over the rest but where it goes isn't up to me.

Hmmm, we doth seem to be already engaged in the debate from the classic Monty Python sketch.

I'm personally on the side of a monarchy, with a "watery tart" deciding our leader by hurling a sword at them. Can't be any worse than what democracy has been producing in the real world lately??

I'm looking forward to founding BigNation's first political party. Still undecided whether to name it the "Konservative Klique" or the "Konservative Kollective". I think the latter sounds more inclusive and less elitist, so will probably run with that even though Klique sounds kool. Besides, the KKollective believe that "ALL BigNationers are of value." so it makes sense, as it allows the party to grow organically. Exciting times ahead for BN.

The flag is planted! What a lovely new island this is.

As the first member of this community it falls to me to lay the foundation of order and then step out of the way.

Law Proposal:
To vote you need to be a citizen, to be a citizen you have to post in the game thread.
Every new citizen has to bring a new law with them, your first duty is the proposal for a new law. Only those who were citizens when you joined the community can vote on your proposal.

To change, amend or otherwise alter/remove an existing law requires a two thirds majority of citizens at the time of the amendment.
You can propose anything you like but you may only propose one law per week on top of your initial law when you joined.
Your laws cannot be omnibus collections of multiple issues, you propose a determination on a single issue at a time - unless that law is changed.
Voting will be in the form of likes or dislikes (or donkey votes of other), if you don't have access to those functions you can reply in writing.

Citizens at the time of proposal: Taylor (yes)

Law passed.

Game on.

I'm not supporting that because I think it's abhorrent and there was no stipulations on how to resolve the size situation for those on the wrong side of the law but it doesn't matter what I think because 2/3 passes.
You'll be thanking me in the future when we're the only nation not inundated with angry feminazis. God bless democracy, and God bless BigNation!
