Time to get Brander training with the defenders

Wingman Andrew Gaff has taken out West Coast’s first 2km time trial of the summer, beating defender Liam Duggan to the finish line.

Gaff ran third behind Josh Smith and Chris Masten in January and was the favourite for Wednesday’s race at the WA Athletics Stadium given Smith and Masten have been delisted.

The club said grand final hero Dom Sheed, tagger Mark Hutchings and defenders Tom Cole and Jackson Nelson also ran strong times.

Sheed equalled his personal best, while young forward Jarrod Cameron lashed 20 seconds from his personal best time. Forward Jack Darling recorded his best time for a first time trial of the summer for five years.
