Graham Cornes: Bruce Francis’ dogged fight to clear the names of the Essendon 34

AFL/EFC sweetheart deal to remain at arms length to let it die, but the 34 need justice.

Sure, just provide all that missing paperwork that Essendon should have that exonarates them and we can get the ball rolling on that one

That's not true.

They got 2 years because they were found guilty of doping. They were found guilty because they couldn't disprove the evidence against them.

The reason they couldn't disprove it, is because of not completing paperwork.
We agree that if the stuff injected into the players was legal they would have kept the paperwork and kept the records on computer files with back up files.
There was a reason it wasn't and you don't have to be Einstein to work out why

"Be a bit careful of what you read on the front of the Herald Sun," Tanner said.
"This story was strictly speaking true, but what they didn't say was that [while] this particular compound was not listed on the list on the ASADA website [until] the day before, it actually doesn't matter, because that is not the whole list.
"That is just like a guide for people … it says 'these are definitely not permitted but do not assume that this list is comprehensive'.
"That was an entirely misleading story because it did not matter whether or not the substance was specificically named on the list on that website. That is not the determining factor about whether or not it's banned."

On a Senate inquiry into the saga Tanner said: "There is no prospect of changing the outcomes of all those processes and the impact they had on both the players and the Essendon Football Club.
"Any such inquiry will cause significant distress for the people who are most affected … and the club therefore does not support that concept. We do not believe it would lead to anything positive for the club or the players"

In other words..."FFS you cretins - we did it and got away with murder. Don't rock the boat!"

There it is. How unessendon of the president.
Plaudits for honesty. I am now looking forward to the other myriad of unexplained issues being sorted.

Tanner is expecting the impossible - Players/officials/Parents could only search for substances which were listed on the consent forms - TB4 was not listed on the consent forms - It shows a total lack of ignorance on Tanner's behalf along with most who post in this thread.

Maybe you should carefully read my post - Tanner like you show a high level of ignorance.
I hope you’re not employed as a proof reader.

And this is just another reason why the whole 'TB4 wasn't on the ASADA website' thing is just so utterly irrelevant.

They weren't told they were getting TB4 injections. Apparently.

So what does it matter whether they searched ASADA's site anyway?

Dank says he didn't give them TB4 - so why would he, or anyone search for it anyway?

Exactly - Yet thousands of posts have been wasted arguing the same - All you could do is check the substances listed on the consent forms.

Lavender as a GC supporter you would know all about it. Only player ever convicted of a positive test in this 'dank' scenario was from your club and he was let off. OMG

If you are referring to Bock, he never tested positive to anything.

I'm not a Gold Coast supporter.

Regardless, Essendon's defence has always been that they never took TB4.

If TB4 was never part of their supplements program (like they claim), then what difference does it make what the ASADA website said or didn't say about TB4??

That still doesn't escape the fact that they destroyed all the records of what was injected into the players.
I repeat if was what injected into the players was legal why did they destroy the records?

It doesn't escape any facts whatsoever.

This recent 'revelation' is possibly the most embarrassing piece of the saga yet.

It's so irrelevant it isn't funny.

More evidence than anything coming out of Essendon and their players but case dropped.

Bock was retired from the sport, what was the point in going after him to get a playing ban?

If the Bombers players had opted to be trialed individually instead of as a group some of the retired ones likes Fletcher might have also had the same leniency applied to them

In my opinion they tried to be smart Charlies and its backfired not only for them but the game as well.
For many years to come the game will haunted by this and seen as Ped friendly, and i also maintain that someone at AFL house knew was was going on and tipped them off when the testers were in town

It really won't, only with a small subset of people who refuse to let it go or see any kind of logic or reason in relation to the case.

Players who were never tested as positive were given a 2 year ban (the maximum under WADA rules at the time), whilst in MLB you can actually test positive to Steroids and receive a half-season ban.

But hey, continue to work yourself up about something that simply isn't true.

Why did your club destroy paperwork and delete commuter files that showed what was injected into the players if they had nothing to hide?
