I read the article and thought, gee people just love to sink the boots in whenever they can.
Then I thought, oh wait they're just looking for a reaction - all good.

You don't think it's strange our senior coaching panel is completely devoid of the only success we are aiming for?

Yea, Buckley doesn't have one.. But surely one of his senior assistants? They can talk to the young guys about what it takes to win a flag and how much it means...

I'd have thought Matthew Boyd would be classed as a senior assistant, and the article does at least mention that he is a Premiership player.

Edit: Just looking at this article Robert Harvey is the only coach the club calls a "senior assistant coach", but Boyd does seem to be one of the three main assistants (for the senior team)!

Collingwood academy coach and former premiership Bulldog, Matthew Boyd, will succeed the recently departed Justin Longmuir as backline and team defence coach.

Boyd arrived at Collingwood at the conclusion of the 2017 season and has since spent his time helping to bring through Collingwood’s younger players and working with the VFL program.

Collingwood GM Football Geoff Walsh said Boyd’s new role came off the back of an impressive first two years at the club.

“Matthew’s growth as a coach at Collingwood has been immeasurable, he has genuine care for his colleagues and players and we see him as a natural fit for the assistant coach role,” Walsh said

“We’re proud to see him develop within our coaching ranks and we expect him to add great value to Nathan’s senior coaching group.”

So our coaching panel reads -

Buckley - No flags

Sanderson - No flags

Boyd - 1 Flag (2016)

Harvey - No flags

Rocca - No Flags

Lockyer - No flags

Selwood - No flags

Hocking - No flags

You don't think it could possibly be a good idea to get more people with actual premiership experience?

I'm sure it would be handy to have more, but it's not the end of the world that we have just the one person on our coaching panel who has that experience. He should be able to get around to enough of the players and pass on his knowledge! Others can worry about this if they wish to, but (as has been pointed out) that article is really just click-bait.

Next time there is change at the top, I pray the club look beyond the boys club mentality thats cloaked the club for 50 years and bring in heads who have no previous affiliation with Collingwood. They shouldn’t care about Collingwood, they should only care about success. It’s no surprise that our only two premiership coaches in that time had no history with the club before joining.

Well Said. We need to look outside of Collingwood to get the Best.

Look at last 2 Flags Coaches in Matthews and Malthouse who did not play at Collingwood

Still, several of those guys have actually been involved in AFL premierships. Buckley was an assistant coach in 2010. Sanderson was an assistant coach at Geelong in 07-09-11. Even Lockyer played 11 games in our 2010 season.
The point is, despite the selective data criteria for the article, those guys were all part of, and contributed to a team’s premiership success.

Click bait article. Nothing but a cheap shot.

Clearly so in your eyes.

However the numbers don't lie - 23 years. The numbers are tangible, real and undeniable. They are not malleable. You can't change nor argue to the contrary. 23 years is the number with a strong possibility of 24 followed by 25 and possibly beyond.

You can emotively take a converse view, which is what you do. That is your right notwithstanding you belittle others who hold a different position.

This table is undeniable and cast in history.

What is this article on about ???????????????

Buckley 1 flag......2010 premiership helped Malthouse develop his game plan.Bucks was forward coach impacted by telling players to lock down in forward line high pressure tackling and score at every opportunity.....We would never had won the flag if we relied on Malthouse's around the ground bounday line tactics.
We missed 2018 by a NTTAWWTteenth, stupid umpiring decision (Block on maynard and Sheed really played on but was given grace to have set shot the rat bag) and players tiring at critical moments.

Brenton Sanderson 2 flags at Geelong senior assistant during the Bomber Thompson era.Coached Adelaide to Prelim final missed on making grand final by 3-4 points.

boyd 1 flag at the Dogs 2016

Buddah Hocking won a flag as Geelong falcons coach

Anthony Rocca- no flags but played off in plenty of finals great player during the 2002 Grand Final. If he was playing in 2003 grand final we would have beaten Brisbane.

Scott Selwood played in plentry of finals for Eagles.

Lockyer plenty of finals experience.

Harvey great player but DUD COACH......ZERO FLAGS, BUT NEARLY HELPED SAINTS GET INTO GRANNY PIPPED AT POST BY PORT ADELAIDE PRELIM.

Is this the new Buckley thread, thought we done with all that
No, the OP just thought he'd drop in and start this thread (nearly two months after his last post) because he genuinely cares for the club, and isn't just trying to "score points" and cause trouble!!:

Malthouse implemented Buckley's game plan in 2010? Lol, spare me.

Why then did Buckley abondon the forward press, as soon as he was appointed in 2012.
