A few things atm

Cadbury Roses...once advertising had them as a Thankyou gesture...well after eating a few of these Thankyous you can say thankyou very much that’s a “no” for me

Fireworks. Over them. Anachronistic. Time to roll our laser shows or give them up.

Christmas Wrapping paper. Wasteful waste.
Cannot agree more with Cadbury Roses - they have fugged up what was once a nice mix of chockies.
Fireworks give me a week of stress with a dog that is terrified of them - and some a-hole in my area lets a few off every night around now. Hope he blows a finger off (one of the less important ones - I'm not that cruel).
Wrapping paper - my wife takes more time wrapping the gift than choosing them.

Cracker night twice a year was something we really looked forward to as kids. Huge bonfire (my dad was a specialist bonfire builder) and crackers galore. Then back the next morning at first light looking for the fizzers. Great fun.

Worked in a children's burns unit for 5 years with 2 surgeons and a charge nurse who bought about the ban in Vic. many years ago. They also got children's clothing fire-rated, home hot water units set at a reasonable standard temperature.

Unit went from 24 beds to 7.

Beg to differ Black

I know it's living in the past, but really decent crackers were bloody great fun. Tape a few penny bungers together, weave the wicks, thread on a bit of extra wick for a safe getaway and BANG!

We did some dangerous s**t back in them days, and I wouldn't want my kid going around blowing things up or burning things down, so I guess it's a thing of the past (here in Australia anyway).

Yeh don’t get me wrong; we regularly had Guy Fawkes Day in the 70s and it’s a treasured memory

Having seen Hong Kong’s daily laser spectacular I just wonder aloud if it’s time to do something different; I probably won’t be around to see it

Pretty much my recollection as well. Except the bit about my dad being an expert bonfire builder. Fortunately plenty of other dads fluent in this skill in our street took the lead.

God we loved them as kids..stuff a couple in a lemon and hey presto instant hand grenade. Neighbourhood battles lasting days !

then as a student with skyrocket battles between flats ( a vacuum cleaner pipe makes a great bazooka)

great fun !

But now i couldn't care less if they got banned to be honest. Got a dog who's petrified of them. It Changes your tune when you see an animal shivering with fear

Or barking incessantly at anything that makes a noise 1 hour after the last cracker

like a lot of things now banned, couldn't care less with regards to stuff i wouldn't be doing now anyway, dragging an esky into the footy full of cans, who cars that its banned. lack of free flowing booze on international flights, these days i get so dehydrated i dont drink on flights anyway. i get my firework hit when iam in 3rd world countries like india and cambodia where they can be bought anywhere for a pittance, then find a nice rooftop or beach and go crazy. the army base firing range in vietnam and cambodia is a great place to acquaintance ourselves with the venerable AK47 as well.

Damn gum trees. Only come down when you dont want em to.... 3.5t chain block 6m in the air and dug round the base 1.2 m and not a budge.
