Already, press playOn Monday or has he already [emoji15]
Yeah I remember those punish the turnover comments from when he first signed up. Tonight was all contest contest contest though. He has said more than that before about us wanting a smaller forward line to increase forward pressure and being a team that punishes on the turnover.

Perhaps he's realised the group he has to work with.
The thing about contest, you need a team that is mentally and physically prepared to make it to all the contests. And eventually you need to do something once you win the contest.
The contest itself is basically passing go and collecting 200 dollars. What you gonna do then? We can't bomb it on Tippet's head any more.
Gotta love your expert opinion 3 years after the fact if youre so smart why arent you a recruiter or list manager ??? Fact is no one knew things would fall this bad but we have had a list clean out and i can see s lot of positives this year but according to you there wont be so until the games start and we see how it is going to play out how about await and see till people start their negative talk cause our team may surprise you but then again there is always people who think they know better than the experts doing the actual job but not willing to put their balls on the line
Some on here probably know directly or through acquaintances a fair bit about how it’s going.I actually agree with everything you said in the above post. My previous comment was a dry humour attempt rather than a serious one.
Though I think we should all give each other some slack during the off-season, when discussions are going on a tangent. None of us really know the inner workings of the club until we see more actual live acts (during the on-season). There’s only so much you can comment on, on the training videos and media interviews.
Our midfield is incapable of scoring goals from clearances, they don’t have the burst power.Yeah I remember those punish the turnover comments from when he first signed up. Tonight was all contest contest contest though.

So apart from our backline, midfield and forward line we're not too bad. That's reassuring. Our midfield is incapable of scoring goals from clearances, they don’t have the burst power.
Our defence is average at generating rebound because we have quite a few who provide zero offence. (Compare to the 97-98 defence who could all attack)
That leaves one approach:
1. Push it forward from the contest (win contested possessions / clearances for territory battle although not scoring directly from them)
2. Apply pressure
3. Forward half intercepts and repeat entries
4. Score through weight of entries
Bad news for Nicks is that our forward line has been one of the worst in the league at applying forward pressure since Charles departed. Probably because Hamish has never used a main draft pick on a pressure forward.
No idea how Nicks is going to put the pieces together.

Didn’t even know his position was up for election

They usually stick it in the back page of the Advertiser in the section with the death notices and ads for "massages".Yeah seriously, how does one subscribe to the "memo" about this kind of stuff? Or does the club deliberately bury it at the bottom of an email/their website in the fine print?
As a member of multiple organisations with member elected boards, they generally bombard you with multiple emails and letters when election time comes around. As a member of the AFC all I get is a generic twitter announcement that Jamieson has been re-elected "un-opposed"...
I see a whole new group coming through.
ROB has astounded me with his development. A truly contested beast in the ruck that fights the good fight.
Doedee, McAsey, Scholl, Butts all look to have attacking tendencies as defenders.
Jones looks like he can hit the contest and the scoreboard.
McHenry is all about pressure.
Himmelberg showed that he could pressure the contest as a big man ... I really liked his work rate (although I was probably comparing it to JJ, that's a low base). Let's see how his marking develops this year, I mean he's only 21 !!
Murphy needs to be taught. He has the right characteristics, they are just poorly applied.
Fogarty is the heart of our future.
Players like McAdam, Gallucci and Stengle are the ones I'm hoping step up this year.
I haven't seen enough of Davis yet, but he is getting some wraps on him from people in the know.
I'm sure there are others that will pop up. I hope Nicks understands how essential it is that we don't keep going with the rusted-on Adelaide thinking with selection.
I'm not expecting much results wise, but I like the look of what is potentially coming through.
The "I'd like to see you do better" argument is always the last ditch option for fanboys who can't accept people criticising the club.is this meant to be a serious opinion? Hope not
we just sacked the top 3 people in our football department and you went with an appeal to authority?
just ******* wowzers
The "I'd like to see you do better" argument is always the last ditch option for fanboys who can't accept people criticising the club.
The "you have to trust the experts inside the club to make the right decisions" argument is genuinely hilarious given the club's recent history.
Pretty sure Sloane was preferred by the players, Talia didn't even make the leadership group. Also I'm not sure how Nicks can be a boys club appointment when he had no connection to the club prior to being hired. As I said I don't nicks is any good and it appears talia was railroaded out of the captaincy. I feel niks was boys club appointment and well, sloane As captain looks. Boys club..
We keep Picking guys into stockmarkets and stuff like Chapman and roo. We keep being conservitive because that's what money men want.
I call it now, milera will leave.
