For me they’ve shown their hand big time today and have got it mostly right. I’m not sure why they’d go with 14 unless the 15th player they want to select is currently injured. Given that we went bowling heavy in the 50-over World Cup I wouldn’t be surprised if they add Behrendorff or Tye to the squad and that’s what we take into the tournament.

Imo though I look at Darcy Short’s international t20 record and it really isn’t bad. Wouldn’t have minded just seeing if he could contribute as a middle order player as he’s somewhat proven he can as an opener.

most ODI and T20 and series now are bi-lateral series of 3 are are over within a week or so.
don't see a need to take 15 really.

but i agree the selectors have shown their hand with a guide to who may be selected for the world cup later this year.

i'm guessing there's probably 5 or 6 others on the radar that didn't make the squad.

Yes but most of the best t20 batsmen in the country bat in the top three. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Maxwell and Carey batting further down the order in the BBL was an instruction from the Aussie selectors. M.Marsh possibly could’ve batted higher too.

Reality is though a few of these more fringe prospects such as Short, Stoinis and Wade batted in positions where they realistically won’t during the tournament.

We have 7-8 months to work out whether these guys can make an impact lower in the order or whether to pick a specialist such as Jono Wells (who again we need to see at international level before hand).
