Adam Gilchrist’s 2007 WCC Puma Ballistic 6000 by Millichamp - re-handled by Bradbury - this bat made me look half decent

That's a beaut mate, how did you get your hands on that?

We started to collect bats when we played cricket, my son & I - so we focused on bats made by Julian Millichamp and I guess Newberry to some extent - pod shaving heritage

I like the bat De Kock is currently using, One colour but it looks good on the tv.

GM Maxi c1985 I found on eBay after searching for years - I lost my 3lb GM Maxi as a teen - the blade had a resin tie, wrapped in string at the bottom, then pigskin wrapped over the meat. The bat was pressed willow and had a very thick edge. Edges flew for six if you could swing it

This is the best bat I ever had .
Mate had started his own brand in the UK and somehow got an agreement to use CA willow.
This got found in the corner of there warehouse , had been rejected as a pro players bat. They agreed to send it to me as long as they could put there CA stickers on.

Anyone own the infamous Mongoose bat?

Never forget watching Chennai Super Kings in one of the early IPLs and Matty Hayden using that bat to send the ball flying. The hype was huge for a very, very brief period.

A few blokes at our club tried it . Was great if you bowled in the slot all the time , not so good when bowlers started varying things up .

I used mainly GN scoops in my day..still have them. First was a purple color scoop. Paid $50 at Jarmans in Geelong as 17 Year Old still the best blade I own.
Then I had Orange Scoop given to me as a First game in FirstGrade...Not as good as purple. I also had A Super Short Scoop with An unusual covering and this bat was a ripper. It was a Craig Serjeant reject , that first grade players had next option on. I was talking to the parents of a grade cricketer and they told me his bats are $900-$1100 and is lucky to get a season out of one. Bloody ball flies off these modern bats tho and the old bats are heavy logs compared.
First GN I saw had the Blue sword down the back they were nice looking bats. Have seen a Scoop that had a Dark Green Scoop back in the late70s. The Purple and Green Scoops were made in the UK...I think the orange scoops may have been made elsewhere.

The Puma Stealth 4000 with graphite handle had a couple of short tablet shaped scoops out off the meat, along with a couple of decorative dots - like a watermelon scoop

When I was ten years old, my second bat (after my Sunil Gavaskar All-Pro) was a kid’s size Gray Nicholls single scoop - I had to find something similar on eBay for nostalgia - mine had Kim Hughes flourishing signature stamped into the lined fiberglass face - to think they could rip the meat out of the bat - rip runs of batsmen, sixes

I'm so jealous of people that kept their cricket bats from bygone eras! I never had the foresight to. My kids-sized V100, by first adult-sized Duncan Fearnley and my first real English-willow Gray Nichs Powerspot have, I suspect, long since gone to the tip.

On the discussion of the scoops, it's funny that they were a thing in the 80s, they went away, then in the early 2000s they came back again.

I was always jealous of my brother. I never got a really great bat despite having a little bit of ability. My brother, who was ******* terrible at cricket, had recently divorced parents vying for his affection, so he ended up with a Gray Nicholls Phoenix. A real bat.. The picture below isn't the exact version he had - his had much more pronounced twin scoops out the back. When you middled it - something he very rarely did - the pick up on it was phenomenal. It was beautifully weighted as well, and was also the early days when other bat brands ripped off the Millichamp & Hall oval handle, although much less oval than the M&H bats had. (Flew off the edges too, which was the part of the bat my brother most regularly used.)

Julian Millichamp made bats for Aussie batsmen who often rebadged them - he had a good eye for clefts - this small men’s screaming cat a good example of his pod shaving, finished with his signature horse’s shine bone

12 year old me was adamant I needed a full adult size one of these, I think after seeing Hashim Amla using one. Dhoni also used one I believe. I just loved the look of it and didn't want one of the standard Gray Nicholls/Kookaburras every other kid seemed to have. Was stoked when I found one in Rowe and Jarman as they weren't that common.
Wish I looked after it a bit better, I think I knocked it in for all of 15 minutes before going out and using it, after a year it was pretty cracked up. Had some good fun with that bat though, could hit the ball a long way with that thing (well a long way for a 12 year old...)
Then I got one of these Fielke's from a local bat maker in Gawler, SA.
Was really well made and the guy knew his stuff, didn't have much meat on it but handled very nicely

You could always rely on the old, indestructible Gray Nicolls Powerspot - solid bat with a nice middle, known to last years in club kits

Another entry in the world of bat pr0n, Woodworm - always loved the name, the cool graphics and the unique notches just below the shoulders - this bat purchased off eBay but never used, just like it cos it’s a bit weird
