You're the one that said Pagan at North was all brilliant....You're just being silly mate.
Theres a bit of Irony at this......Oh please, that is the equivalent of bombers saying that Essendon players were not guilty as there was no positive tests.
Carlton was found of major salary cap breaches in 94 and 99. You know as well as I do that player payments are front and back loaded. If a club breaches a salary cap in one year it has flow on affects the following years. Ie, money spent on Silvagni via cap breach in 94 means that less of his ‘agreed salary’ needs to be paid in 95.
Ultimately, the dealings of the club crippled it for a decade, and reality the club is only seeing the light of day now almost two decades on.
Yeah you want argue technicalities with me and your ilk want to place the blame at the feet of Malthouse and pagan, when really, you should be directing it at the club for the choice they made!
Typical Carlton fan, looking to blame others instead of looking at the culture and decision made by club leadership.

There was no pagan era.
It was the Carey era.
Compare him to Sheedy.
In 1999 Essendon lost their best player James Hird and finished on top of the ladder losing the prelim by a kick.
In 2002 north lose their best player Wayne Carey and all genius coach pagan can do is get them to 7th, they lose to a bad Melbourne team unceremoniously.
Facts are pagan couldn't do a thing without Carey
Bit hard to kick 100 goals in a season as a centre half forward. The most amount of goals Carey Kicked in a season was 81 I think
and what little youth we did get coaches like Pagan failed them developing winning habits. Too many just did not make it. Bad recruiting and bad coaching and loss of super early draft picks all combined in that period in becoming darkest period in club history. Some of us lived through it and know it from week to week how it unfolded and truly understand why it happened. Pagan was wrong coach for that time but not surprising as just another stupid decision by Elliott in his last few moments before getting kicked out.Theres a Reason why carlton suffered a fair bit and didnt play finals until 2009. Carltons 2002 squad was ageing. Once they got the spoon, they really needed those early picks. Having 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th round picks for 2-4 years in a row will really hurt the club, unless free agency existed in 2002 to Ironically pay money to players in their prime years. Carltons recruiting from 1997-2001 proved they didnt get a lot of good youth through.
No Carey that day, the bloke that carried him. You're the one that said Pagan at North was all brilliant....
I was at the game. I was one hoping to see a good final, only to have to see most one sided finals game I been too, coached by Pagan, at North....Was anything but brilliant towards end of his time there.
It was sign of things to come in his coaching career of not knowing how to really adapt and change when he needed to.
Denis owes me back those two hours at the footy.
Carey played that day. I was there. No Carey that day, the bloke that carried him.
Can't agree with that.
And the only reason Sheedy's legacy was enhanced by gws was because it was a start up. If he'd gone to Carlton, shudder, and had the same results as Pagan his legacy would still have taken a hit despite being more successful than Pagan to begin with.
The 125 day ?Carey played that day. I was there.
Where is my refund ?
No offence mate ,but anyone couldve coached those teams at North in the 90's !
He was ******* hopeless at Carlton both in coaching and recruiting
Woah, ok muscles. Is "I was there that day" too hard for you to understand ?
Pagan was a lifelong Carlton supporter having grown up just behind Rathdowne St.He played under 17's, 19's or reserves at Carlton. I think Barassi moved him on and went to South or somewhere else. Before my time but he had a little connection to Carlton from past but never done any good as player or coach.
Barassi sent him from Carlton to North so he never played a senior game at Carlton. Before my time but he had a little connection to Carlton from past but never done any good as

Was a major reason he took up the challenge at Carlton. That and besides being on their list - very little connection.

His inability to regenerate the list shows he only did it once.2002 was an ageing team and horrible kicking early on cost us the game against Melbourne - Denis had f all to do with that. With Carey maybe we push for another prelim but who knows.
