Because we need to expand the markets for test cricket, if the current trend continues how long will test cricket survive? Because it will get boring really fast if we play India and England every second year
I have already raised concerns for the future of test cricket and you chose to ridicule any suggestions I or others here put forth. Why are you suddenly so worried about it now? And why would Pakistan ever get an invite back here after their performance last year? We'd get more competition from a local pub side

what we clearly need is more T20 World Cups.

I don't want to hear one single complaint from all the socialist idiots here. You were warned test cricket was struggling and humbly asked for recommendations to fix it and you responded with scorn and ignorance.

The above schedule is what happens when you choose to stick your head into the ground instead of looking at actual solutions. The ICC has now shown that in the absence of compelling test cricket combined with waning interest, their solution is to add more meaningless tournaments to finance this farce.

So all you smug conservative dinosaurs better shut your mouths when T20 begins its full takeover in a few years time.

You speak as if people who post on here have any influence on the direction of cricket whatsoever. You say we were warned .... what did you expect us to do about it?

Most countries outside the big three don't put the required resources in towards growing the game locally so why should the ICC invest? Socialist BS

Yeah because a country - that isn’t even a country - like the West Indies, made up of a dozen islands, only two of which has a population above 700,000, and which includes some poverty stricken nations, can put them required resources in’ towards growing the game locally by comparison to countries that have either a top 10 world population (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) or a high ranking GDP (England, Australia).

That’s very realistic thanks for the input

No, people responded with reasons why some of those methods would only work if you’re a fan of one of 3 countries, and gave a very simple answer as to a very simple solution that could help fix test cricket for every nation that plays the game

i have a novel idea - lets stop turning up to odi's and 20/20 cricket - vote with our feet and turn up to the test cricket.

each city (in australia only gets to host one test per summer) - so turn up.

and yes it includes all people from perth to see the mighty afghans this upcoming summer.

that was a bit tongue in cheek, but the problem isn't so much crowds in australia , it's elsewhere.

An old school WACA pitch against our quicks might be something the Afghans haven't seen too often.

So pretty much every few months theres a world cup or a champions cup or a world test championship... Jeez this game is in trouble. You finish a big tournament then you have to go through the immediate build up for the womens one, then when that's done the next big tournament is about to begin :$

Currently watching a great game of test cricket with NZ taking it up to India. We need to do more to support the smaller nations

It’s like the AFL equalisation helps the game make more money as it allowed us to have 8 and now 9 games a week. If we cut the sides that couldn’t stand on there own feet TV revenue dies as you would have 6/7 games a weekend

In terms of scale, the NFL might be a better comparison - they have 32 teams, and all their owners receive the same amount of money, whether they're from a 'big market' or a 'small market'. All of them make a profit.

Watching a random T20 Sri Lanka v Windies right now and the stadium is packed (looks around 30,000).
If it was a Test, they’d be lucky to get 1000 attending.
