Having Hannebery fit and playing well is going to be one of the factors for us playing finals along with Brad Hill , Zac Jones who are basically 3 class players we never had last year who should really lift our midfield.Hope he gets through. Fingers crossed for an injury free game.

Also having a fit Carlisle , Roberton and a Fullback (Howard) who actually will take the game on should help us attack from defense.

Saints want to be the ones in control, says Steele
St Kilda aren’t looking to become the AFL’s autocrats per se, but according to midfielder Jack Steele, the Saints want to start becoming “the dictators.”www.theage.com.au

The next 12 months will reveal whether Richo has been protecting our deficiencies or holding us back. Can’t wait for the season to start.
All of them offer us something so hopefully onwards & upwards!I think even the club realised he had fu** all to work with. We only have a handful of average players still on the list from 5 years ago, 7 left I think. Webster, Ross, Geary, Dunstan, Lonie, Roberton and Billings. The rest are all gone.

Ratten might be just the man to bring out best in Dunstan
Luke Dunstan can't speak more highly of new coach Brett Ratten as the 25-year-old aims to scratch a seven year itch and put the Saints back in contention againwww.theage.com.au
His 1st game against the Hawks was Very Good, plays like that and he wont play many for Sandy this yearI’m liking how Dunstan isn’t shying away from his role to do the inside work & allow the runners to do the rest. No use over analysing his deficiencies, may as well focus on the stuff he does well & own it. This messaging is consistent with the current coaches.

St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt says prodigy Max King should embrace the hype.
But Riewoldt has warned Saints fans against heaping pressure on their prized draft pick.
“He hasn’t played a senior game yet, but we’re all really excited about the raw athleticism that we see on display,” Riewoldt said.
“There’s no denying that he’s an exciting talent and we all hope that he goes really well and gets some continuity.
“As a young player who plays a similar position, albeit about three inches shorter, I think we just need to temper those expectations a little bit.
“You want to be able to play every week and stay out on the park and contribute and play your role. Internally I think that would be the expectation for him.”

“It builds resilience to play those players every week. You develop a lot by doing that, and that can carry you throughout your entire career … I’m confident he’ll be fine,” Riewoldt said

“I think my advice would be almost not to shy away from it [the expectations]. Use the expectations to drive you, to drive you in your preparation, and your commitment to get the best out of yourself every day.
“From the conversations I’ve had with Max and from what I’ve witnessed, he is a really driven individual so I think he’s going to be able to handle those expectations.”
“He’s in a great spot to be able to perform.”

Stand-in Saints captain Tim Membrey said if King became a target for opposition players, then they would have his back.
“If they [opposition] do decide to go for Max, then good luck to them,” Membrey said.
“ He’s a pretty big boy and he can hold his own, but I’m sure everyone will be looking out for him.”
