Surely they’ll just play in empty stadiums. The main issue is with the crowd not the actual game taking place

At my work they just said we have to work from home for the next 2 weeks if we can or be more than 1 meter away from colleagues. So I guess tackling will be banned in afl or no games lol

Im not fussed it wont be forever. Im 99% sure it will be put off at this stage. Alot of companies have started to quarantine staff
You're probably right but I'm holding out a bit of hope that they just play in empty stadiums. If it gets postponed we aren't getting any footy this year as far as I'm concerned, I can't see things being better in a few months

Agree. Only way to do it is to close borders and shut the whole country down for a few weeks.

Just heard from a reliable source that the season will be delayed by 4 weeks.

And will be subject to further review once the 4 weeks has been concluded.

Yep we need to quarantine people entering the country for a month like China is doing. The problem is if we shut everything down the economy will be destroyed. It’s bad either way
Too late for that now.
30,000 Chinese uni students have already made it into the country. I know of 9 people currently on overseas travel. Madness to have left the country but money down the drain otherwise so they went.

That's it then.

It's has been fun conversing with you all. See you all in December when SC opens again.

the NBA have said it's going to be at least 30 days. More Jazz players have tested pos

from a fantasy perspective (not important in the grand scheme of things I know ) it's causing absolute mayhem in NBA leagues. Some leagues are in the midst of playoffs, some are a week out of that. I'm in 6 leagues, all at the moment have sort of all been paused, with no one really knowing what to do.

There's some big stakes involved too. I know someone in 10 leagues, each with a 1k buy in

And I had just settled on a team i was finally happy with. SC gods fu** me again....
Same. I'm not touching my team for 371 days.

But, on the bright side - everyone will be a lot cheaper. No one played for a season :p

If this is true it'll have a massive influence on our teams IMO.

Any injured players or players returning from injury are much more attractive options with 4 weeks of extra training and conditioning. Some names that come to mind are Titch, Treloar, Cockatoo, Zilliams, Docherty, Steven and Gawn.

It actually severely hurts the rookies too as suddenly guys like Green, Xerri, Mahony, BZT and Budarick are much less likely to get games with Sexton, Brown, LDU, Hooker and Ward being guys that were projected to be back around rounds 4-5.

Liberatore was projected to be back around week 4 or 5 too which may eat into the midfield time of some of the Dogs players.

If it turns out to be only 4 weeks delay that would work out ok.
Then just play 17 home and away games so each team plays each other once with no byes.

Have not heard if the delay means pushing the season back by 4 weeks and still play 22 games or whether it means only playing 17 games for the season.

I must admit I like the idea of playing 17 games. Get the AFL to redo the draw and let every team play each other once.

Does alpha trump numeric? I'm changing mine to 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Hypothetical: If the season is delayed, thus shortened by 4-5 rounds or compacted to still play 22 rounds but over 17-18 weeks for instance = NO bye rounds

Will be a nightmare for SC. We'd all be on a diet of donuts. With teams having to play a number of midweek games, rotating players becomes vitally important. General soreness would be to the fore. Interesting though as it would certainly test the depth of the clubs' list.

Has anyone considered removing their big game players due to the possibility of empty stadiums? Legit, Dusty has been in my team since day 1 but without a bumper crowd will he play out of his skin like we know him to?

Perhaps we might get 7 nights a week footy - 1 game each night televised on Free To Air ?

:think: well.....we might...:p:rainbow::footy:
