Woah...woah...it was one sentence in 45 minutes of tv.

Wat was more concerning was * 2019 Box with 18 Coaches and Laptops

And still rubbish
She's mentioned this a few times now. I'll bet she's dusting off the articles she had waiting to go back in '07. Making a few tweaks while simultaneously tweaking herself.

The players are flat out laughable.

How noble of them.

Their contracts start in October, they get paid the 27th of every month. So they've been paid 100% wages for Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and March.

They essentially get front paid during pre-season, as club's don't recieve revenue from the AFL until the TV revenue comes in.

So they have already been paid 50% of their yearly contracts already and are proposing a 50% pay cut for just April/May despite sitting at home and the game recieving basically no revenue for the year yet?! :drunk::drunk:.

They should be stood down like the rest of staff with no pay. Given they have received 50% of their contracts already, for the entirety of the rest of the year in my opinion given the destruction of revenue for the game.

The salary cap should be cut in half next year to compensate clubs for the fact the players have been overpaid for 2020.

Hopefully this results in a shift in the next CBA, to scalable pay respective of when clubs receive their revenue.

This is like porn for Wilson. Seriously, as if the clubs are discussing mergers already.

Did anyone catch the breakdown of AFL finances on Talking Footy?

Annual distribution to Clubs was $315m, AFL administration was $149m.

What an absolute disgrace.

I noticed Gil’s salary is dropping from $60k per week to $50k, how will he survive? All whilst telling the players they should be making 79% cuts.

The AFL doesn’t deserve to survive, they have pissed this away like Nauru did with their phosphate wealth.

I tend to agree. The only caveat is that I'd be happy for a floor to be put in on individual wages so that the 40th player on the list is getting a reasonable living wage even if that means the top end take a bigger hit.

Yep. They're a frigging leech on football most of the time. Some of our oldest clubs have been living hand to mouth for years because the AFL takes a massive cut of the revenue they all generate. The AFL needs to be careful here, they may own the brands but that doesn't do them any good if they're bankrupt - clubs could buy them back in a firesale...

There's two big austerity measures that can be used before any club with heritage is touched.

Kill off the expansion clubs.
Money earned from having an extra game on each week in big markets = those clubs being safe.

Tasmania now won't get a team, and I suspect that would mean they would want to extend our deal, given they would want tourism to restart. They may even push for a fifth game. And we may say yes because we need the money.

... and needlessly reckless. People are facing losing their loved ones and their livelihoods, we all need the hope that we can return to the footy to cheer for the teams that we love.

There is no question that when football returns, it will be one of the greatest fillips those of us who love the game and those employed as a part of it, will get. For that matter all sports when they return. Because that will mean those who have lost or will lose their jobs will be back at work. we will be able to get out and do the things, we such a short time ago took for granted and the world will start to return to normal.

Obviously, the most important two things are the number of deaths is as low as is possible and the discovery of a vaccine against covid-19. I'm flat out cheering all the epidemiologists working on this now. They are the real heroes. Go Epidemiologists.

These people are ******* scum. It is literally a narrative that they write - St Kilda are so far up a black hole compared to us it isn't funny. I'm not interested in letting them write the narrative that condemns us. Ben about to earn his wage IMO.

The more I think about this the dumber it gets. You were on the ******* board, Mark. You know more than most that our financial position is far, far stronger than it used to be.

God, imagine being James Brayshaw's idiot brother.

And by the way geniuses... as the AFL has the NRL on its knees in these states - there is surely no way they give up on quite possibly being the only game left in town.

I think NRL is done and all that will be left is SOO. If we are ****ed, they must be Anabel Chong styled 100x more ****ed than us as 75% of their income comes from (RSL) leagues clubs which are now closed!

All the AFL need to do is hold like William Wallace and everything will bigger and better within 3 years of a vaccine being discovered.

Lack of expansion is fine.

Removal of any team should be at a last on basis is what I am saying.

I'm actually worried about the NRL's influence in all of this.

There's chance that the entire competition folds and reforms in a different format of say 4 Sydney teams, 4 QLD teams, 1 Melbourne team etc under a new Super League banner.

The likes of:

- Dogs Gone. No major sponsor & Leagues Club made a loss of 4million last year.

- Dragons Gone. Major basket Case.

- Tigers Gone. Basket Case.

- Manly Gone. Owner won’t stump up the cash to keep the club alive, he puts in about 2m a year of personal cash to just keep them solvent.

- Panthers Gone. 40 million dollars in the red with licensed clubs closed.

I'm worried that if the NRL start culling historical clubs, that it is going to encourage the media pile on, especially from non-Victorian bases, as a major opportunity to reduce the Victorian monopoly of current AFL clubs and given them a chance to re-structure an ideological distributed league.
