"Victoria’s government is bracing for up to 2,000 intensive care admissions at the peak of the pandemic here, expected in late May or early June. The state only had about 475 ICU beds before the crisis developed, compared with about 875 in NSW."
Uh. Thanks I guess?

FMD. The guy can't cut a break. He imposed travel bans … Then a month later (if we agree on your timeline) he's supposedly not doing enough.

Not agreeing with reality is a common pro-Trump theme. Yes, the timeline shows he put a travel ban in place and then did not much really but talk down the threat for the next month. The criticism turned out to be on point. He didn't prepare adequately and his country is now suffering for it.

If you wanna ignore facts, then we have nothing further to talk about. Good luck with the trying months we have ahead.

Hurts getting cooped at home with no sport....

Usually it's the best time of the year where NBA playoffs and AFL collide

??? The comments are referenced in the article you quoted.

Of course, and I read it at the time I quoted from it and couldn't see one sentence of bullshit. You made the claim. Why can't you back it up with a single statement from him that justifies your claim? The only rationale I can think of is that there isn't one you can pinpoint and you've had second thoughts about your original erroneous invective. Why else would you waste so much bandwidth trying to justify your original point without quoting a single thing he said that you could hang your hat on. If the case for your original claim is as strong as you keep saying why can't you do this??

Stop wasting my time.

I've been guilty of it, there's a lot of name calling going on. In the words of ScoMo. Stop it.

You're entitled to an opinion, yours may differ and you may feel others are ridiculous but let's just be a bit more civil.

I’m confident we will see Medical advances that help significantly in the short term.

Quick testing is a GAME CHANGER.

Better treatments will be found.

They have developed and designed a cheap mass production Ventilator at Oxford.

There will be break throughs.

Until then the government need to get serious.

I think that it was wrong of trump to promote an untested drug. The transcript and tweets are available online. Clearly the woman who acted on the comments interpreted them as good advice when they were not.
What i didnt like about your original post is that it felt to me that you were implying that she deserved what happened to her and her husband, which i didn't like because to me it seems like needless death and I was surprised at what seemed to be a lack of compassion. I should have better articulated that.
Now is a good time to take the medical professionals seriously, in my opinion. I sincerely hope trump and more to the point our own scomo do so from now on

Not agreeing with reality is a common pro-Trump theme.

One of us is indeed struggling with reality. Shall we take a poll of the readers to determine which one of us that is?

Yes, the timeline shows he put a travel ban in place and then did not much really but talk down the threat for the next month.

I think that it was wrong of trump to promote an untested drug.

(1) It's not 'untested'. (2) If you think he promoted it, do you think Cuomo did likewise when he ordered close to a million doses of this and other drugs while also providing positive commentary on them?

What i didnt like about your original post is that it felt to me that you were implying that she deserved what happened to her and her husband, which i didn't like because to me it seems like needless death and I was surprised at what seemed to be a lack of compassion. I should have better articulated that.

"It felt to" you that I was "implying" ... gee can you be any more definitive? Lot's of qualifying statements gushing forth now.

Regardless of what you 'felt' I didn't imply any such thing. I said the incident was regrettable. My point was that her actions since the incident, to completely pin the blame on Trump rather than admit any of her own culpability were narcissistic. I stand by everything I said.

I don’t have Facebook. No one is claiming. Rather throwing out theories. The w***er needs to settle down and stop thinking he knows all. Go read the article. Then tell me there is absolutely 100% certainty that this virus didn’t escape the lab. Tell me how the cave doesn’t exist and then tell me more about how China has been doing good with the Horseshoe bats since 2004. All this study....
The sheep of this world cruel our chances of being a free thinking society.

And watch the w***er respond with name calling....

You've probably seen the below batshit crazy conspiracy doing the rounds on social media.

"Wake up sheeple!"

AFL HQ via Gil pulled the Trigger. Ball was in their court. Players played the role of the gimp

So.... what? Gill just communicated a necessary reality.

If Gil caused the players to lose money through a negligent error, act or omission then we are going somewhere with compo.

You would probably have to prove that the threat created by the virus wasn't real or that isolation doesn't work and Gil was aware of that.

If the AFL got some sort of compo (perhaps out of thin air) then they would morally have to look at sharing it.

I was trying to use diplomatic language so as to not rile you up any more.
I continue to think that he, and anybody else, should not have promoted a drug that has not been clinically tested for use as a covid 19 treatment. It was irresponsible and unnecessary.
We should probably agree to disagree on that and move on

Well don't feel like you need to pussyfoot around on my account. If you think I said she deserved what happened to her, please pinpoint where I did so.

Here's the results from one French study of hydroxychloroquine. There's also results available for a Chinese study for chloroquine.

Yes it hasn't been subject to a Randomised Clinical Trial for Coronavirus. It has been for a number of other conditions though. If it didn't show promise then New York authorities wouldn't be injecting it into Covid-19 sufferers as we speak.

I'm a bit behind on how the US are doing their statistics, but how is it possible that they have more deaths than recoveries? Just not submitting recoveries anymore?

Well we may not have a choice. Hospitals can only cope with so many cases at once. There will be social distancing restrictions until there is a vaccine or maybe, our best bet for a quicker resolution, find an existing drug that can slow the severity of Coronovirus.

will the AFL 2021 season start on time?
Society just wont cop that, they'll take the deaths because you would see unemployment at numbers that havent been seen before and we dont want to see what we do to each other then. The virus is deadly, its not erase society as we know it deadly and an 18 month lock down would erase modern society

I'm a bit behind on how the US are doing their statistics, but how is it possible that they have more deaths than recoveries? Just not submitting recoveries anymore?
Fully private health system perhaps? There would be so many poor (who are the most likely to become infected) who wouldn't be able to afford treatment

One of us is indeed struggling with reality. Shall we take a poll of the readers to determine which one of us that is?

January 29: The White House announced the formation of the Coronavirus Task Force to help monitor and contain the spread of the virus and provide updates to the President.

January 31: The Trump Administration:

  • Declared the coronavirus a public health emergency.
  • Announced Chinese travel restrictions.
  • Suspended entry into the United States for foreign nationals who pose a risk of transmitting the coronavirus.

February 26: President Trump discussed coronavirus containment efforts with Indian PM Modi and updated the press on his Administration’s containment efforts in the U.S. during his state visit to India.

These are dates in question, from the travel ban announcement to the claim of a Democrat hoax. A lot of words and dates here and not much substance. The CDC handling of test kits and lack of testing was an utter balls up, that's not all on Trump though, and nor are all their actions a pin in his lapel.

So what's left on this vomitus list. He talked to governors? He chatted to Modi? The request for funding from congress was his only real action, on Feb 24th while neck deep in the valid criticism he went on to label a hoax.

A nice attempt at gaslighting to include his claim to “take all necessary steps” and yet exclude the bevy of false claims he made in this timeframe.

I won't be responding to you again. Your ability to think critically and objectively is clearly compromised for whatever reason. But by all means start a poll. If you consider such results as reflective of reality, it may be worthwhile to shake you out of your delusion.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Now is not the time to be so easily misled.

Fully private health system perhaps? There would be so many poor (who are the most likely to become infected) who wouldn't be able to afford treatment

Double edged sword is that they can have hospital insurance tied to their employer, which they then lose when they are sacked due to the employer closing down in response to the virus.

Interestingly according to this article, UK has ordered 3.5m home Covid-19 test kits!! Our Government seems to work in thousands not millions :(

Anyway, if these become readily available seems the best was fwd to me is to go into total lockdown for 2 weeks and then whoever has tested negative gets to go about their business again!
Sounds draconian but maybe some sort of wrist band you wear to show you've tested negative? Eg. a cafe owner who has tested negative could then re-open and know that his customers has also all tested negative.
We do not know if negative test with no symptoms means true negative or low level carrier which could then be infectious later (with or without symptoms)
