But what about tippett

Selected as the bank manager. i wanna see Ron Clegg, Barry Round, Fred Goldsmith and Johnny Rantall on the list and ready to swing in at a moments notice. It would also be handy to have Stewie Gull on the bench when we play the Dons or Blues.

Pretty disappointing result in Round 1, led by 4 goals half way through the 3rd before collapsing in the last.
Expect sweeping changes in next week's team.

Okay, so that didn't work... pretty bad really...

How about something like this...

Round 3 Team

B: Richards - Grundy - Smith
HB: Rampe - Malceski - Aliir Aliir
C: A. Goodes - Parker - McVeigh
HF: Hall - Franklin - Heeney
F: O'Loughlin - Lockett - Papley
Foll: Pyke - Kennedy - O'Keefe

INT: Kirk - Hannebery - Bird

A more balanced mixture of grit, determination, speed and skills...

And if we can have them all as they were at their prime, that would be good!

In Round 2 one of the greatest Swans teams to ever take the field headed over to Optus Stadium to take on the Eagles. With a centre line consisting of Adam Goodes, Bob Skilton, and Paul Kelly the Swans burst out of the blocks leaving the Eagles in their wake, at the 20-minute mark of the first quarter leading 51 to 1. It was an easy win from there as the Eagles never really threatened, the dream forward combo of Lance Franklin and Tony Lockett combined for 12 goals, while Bob Skilton gathered 35 disposals, Bazza Hall was a prominent presence albeit inaccurate taking 10 marks, getting 31 disposals and kicking 3 behinds. Mike Pyke dominated in the ruck and even Brett Kirk managed to snag 5 goals in a 76 point demolition of the Eagles in Perth.

The game was replayed and West Coast defeated Sydney by 56 points.

MATCH-UPS :
  • A Aliir gave J Redden a bath. - 81m from 5 to 86.
  • While overall a quiet day for both players, I'm not sure that what L Shuey did to A Aliir should be entirely legal. - 1m from 98 to 99.
  • Regardless that this wasn't a huge game for either player, J Rowbottom won the bout with A Gaff. - 31m from 67 to 98.
  • In an enthralling contest, S Gray had the better of A Gaff. - 61m from 3 to 64.
  • In an enthralling contest, C Mills exposed B Ah Chee's frailties. - 94m from 5 to 99.
  • Spending most of the game pushing and shoving each other, L Shuey either broke even with B Ronke or vaguely bested him - it was hard to tell. - 18m from 76 to 94.
  • While overall a quiet day for both players, I'm not sure that what B Sheppard did to J Dawson should be entirely legal. - 60m from 23 to 83.
  • In a comparatively small-fry arm wrestle, D Sheed and JP Kennedy were hard to separate - though D Sheed was slightly more effective. - 1m from 46 to 47.
  • While both players struggled to make an impact, D Sheed was slightly more polished than W Hayward. - 24m from 75 to 99.
  • While the match-up was a bit of a side-show, J Petruccelle did very well against Dane Rampe. - 23m from 49 to 72.
  • While overall a quiet day for both players, JJ Kennedy massacred Dane Rampe. - 14m from 5 to 19.
  • Neither having much reason to brag, L Duggan did well against Dane Rampe. - 24m from 74 to 98.
  • In a resume-material performance, E Yeo won the bout with L Parker. - 96m from 2 to 98.
  • While worlds weren't set on fire, I'm not sure that what J Cripps did to H Cunningham should be entirely legal. - 50m from 47 to 97.
  • While the match-up was a bit of a side-show, not much between J Petruccelle and H Cunningham - the former was probably a smidgeon better. - 46m from 0 to 46.

  • In a resume-material performance, T Papley won the bout with J Brander. - 77m from 22 to 99.

  • In quite a display, J McGovern exposed N Blakey's frailties. - 100m from 0 to 100.
  • While very slim pickings for both players, JP Kennedy had the better of L Shuey. - 8m from 29 to 37.
  • In what became a bit of a clinic, T Kelly gave JP Kennedy a lesson. - 100m from 0 to 100.
  • Regardless that this wasn't a huge game for either player, L Ryan was easily the winner in the clash with K Brand. - 65m from 5 to 70.
  • In what was a very slow day for both, N Naitanui exposed K Brand's frailties. - 5m from 94 to 99.

We are Owen2 now, where do you think improvement can be expected?

Round 4 match thread is up. Game will be around 7pm on Wednesday!

Seems our coach Kennedy Parker is remarkably stony faced at present. He is resisting calls for wholesale changes to the team and game strategy. This morning he gave a presser.

When a reporter from the Qooty Record asked the coach whether his own future was 'Clod'd', E-Swans media flog ... erm... flack ...oof ...manager GotTheGoodes intervened and began brandishing a contract. This document purports to show the Coach has signed a decade long contract extension.

GtG immediately closed the presser. I can report Coach Clod had not uttered a word.

Isolated at his Sunnybrook Farm, Tedeski immediately tweeted his support for Coach KP. "There is absolutely nothing wrong with Clod's tactics. The Club has made the right decision".

Similarly and in splendid isolation in the one person State of Tasmania, The King! bellowed across Bass Strait, "SACK BLESS".

Meanwhile caesar88 repaired to his study, considered the facts and the stats from our 0-3 start and wrote a learned treatise on where we stand at the moment. He concluded we are 0-3 but Ollie was doing a great job.

Ticky009 was on the job, relaying media coverage of the Coach's wordless presser. I could hear her chuckling.

Outside in the cold distance a wild Wolfgang West did growl
Bonz and cadsky were approaching
The Squaddie was ruour reportin'
And the Kummerspeck began to howl.

C'mon folks, get behind our players and Coach (from a safe distance). Our Owen streak will finish on Wednesday with a ritual slaughter of the Hawks. Be there (virtually) or be square.

Stay safe everyone.
