Fair point, and at the time if he was pressed he would probably also defend it/argue the point, but he still acknowledged his failings, and there are other examples.

Donald Trump put out a FULL PAGE AD calling for the death penalty for a group of kids from 30 years ago, who were then proven innocent, and he probably doesnt even think a moment a year about it.

It’s true - they won’t leave themselves open and hand a free kick to their political opponent. The current admin is a little bit different to past ones due to the volume of half/miss truths and blatant nature of it (overt vs covert).

Politics are definitely a dangerous game, and I have no doubt many politicians weigh up the cost of being 100% honest with the cost of losing their ability to try and stick around and change things for what they believe will be best.

Trump however takes that into overdrive and then times it by a factor of 10.

After it was classified as a pandemic, they have been accused of under preparing everyone. So no one wins in this situation.

Trump had ample time to do what he does best: Ignore expert advice and do something like...prepare hospitals with essential supplies first, get incoming people testing ready and put things in place.
