ACDC played at our school social in 1975
They were excellent
Did the normal and sat next to speakers
When I turned around everyone had stopped dancing and formed a half circle around the stage
I thought it was good how the lead guitarist wore a school uniform for a school social :)

I saw them at the Totty Hotel, $2 supper charge

Massive brawl saw many of my associates "requested" to leave.

Another giant gone. Little Richard was, along with Chuck Berry, one of the men who brought black music to a wider white audience.
His influence can be heard in early Beatles and Stones albums. The Beatles must still thank him for helping fill out early albums and Paul especially says thanks for the "wooo". John is also in his debt for his contributions to the Rock'n'Roll album.

You can see and hear him in the performances of James Brown Ike and Tina, Prince, Otis Redding, Freddie Mercury, Elton John and countless more that are also in his debt.

His influence can even be heard in the way he up-talked himself in the bombastic way that Muhammad Ali conducted interviews.

I saw him at Festival Hall in 1974 thinking I was probably going to see a washed up old rock'n'roll singer, wrong, he was a great showman. The show also had a curious incident when a topless girl, who looked stoned, stumbled up onto the stage. Security quickly escorted her backstage.

If you doubt his greatness have a look at this from Rolling Stone

I'll just leave you with some food for thought, "A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop-a-wop-bam-boom!"
Now that's deep

Here is the Architect of Rock'n'Roll in action

Interesting
Must admit I frequented the Totty from time to time
The main band I remember seeing was Cold Chisel
No fights that I know of

Must have missed Chisel playing there.

The "main" band were the incomparable house band "Blue Echoes" ;)

Good to see the bloke on the banjo is right into his music.

Mate, that's the lead guitarist Ray "Screamy" Eames. He actually played for a number of 60/70s Melbourne pop stars and engineered some songs.

Their Creedence covers were spot on. I think he went on to run a tobacconist shop later.

At a loss this Sat morning or night? Tune in to the TISM special this Saturday May 23 from 11am, and later that night from 12:15am on ABC TV.

That brings back memories. TISM where a rite of passage back in the 80s

I remember seeing them for the first time at The Tote or The Club around 1986, first song they came out in KKK outfits, waving placards and did Defecate On My Face, a catchy little number about Hitler's reputed deviances.

Good times.

I might have been at that one - remember one where they had washing line around the roof of the 4 corners of the venue & kept hanging washing out all night. Funny stuff. Great tunes.
