I really enjoyed that - just a total nostalgia trip. I grew up in a regional town in the mid 90's and, pre-internet, the whole world just seemed to go bball crazy. Just remembering basketball card packs like 6$ and then instantly worthless. Air Jordan baseball caps like 30 $ in 90's money. Crazy.

I found that really weird.

One guy can deliver a dodgy pizza just as easily as 5 guys. 5 guys is simply drawing attention.

Also, Pizza at all hours of night screams someone has been on the piss doesn't it
the only place u get get late night food is at a dennys or a casino.

I know it's the wrong answer but I don't mind it - the color at least. The font/ image does have a dumb cartoonish quality. Looks pretty lame against the bulls. When the sonics come back and KD rejoins think they'll just go classic:

Apparently one of the guys who delivered the pizza or made it has called bullshit on the 5-man delivery and that the pizza made MJ sick.

Who knows what really happened.

Can I just say how disciplined are the people who had all the footage of jordan et al behind the scenes, all this time, and not have released it last decade or earlier?
They were probably under contractual obligation not to. i.e if it got out, intentionally or otherwise, they'd get sued. Jordan was adamant that he had final say on what could be released, and when.

thought the kerr part was excellent, also last night gave pippen a bit of a boost, showing him play with the back injury, after early at times he is a bit sooky in the series

loved the series

biggest loser is clearly reinsdorf, comes across as tight

could have thought of a better excuse after all these years
I can see it from the Reinsdorf businessman perspective. He was already paying 2 x luxury tax in 98 for that team, and with many of the players then becoming 3-6 time NBA champions, he probably would have had to pay 3 x luxury tax in 99 to keep them altogether. So he decided to cash in and trade the players that still had value rather to help with a rebuild, rather than waiting another year and have their value diminish (known then as the "reverse Daniher theory", they were quite forward thinking back then).

Reinsdorf had no desire nor intention of continuing to pay Jordan 30 million a year and match whatever Pippen, Jackson and the rest of the team where to going to get in the open market smashing any previous team salary record. He wanted to end it in 98 because Reinsdorf came to the conclusion that the money he needed to spend to bring them back for the 99 season simply wasn't worth it, from his perspective anyway, end of story. With Jordan now being an owner, he possibly sympathizes with Reinsdorf a little bit.
Spot on. And I was disappointed the interviewer didn't ask Jordan that very question! Or maybe they did but it didn't make the final cut because it would have made MJ look like a hypocrite. Either way, poor form.

ok controversial comment time - as good as that was, it was a massive mj vanity project. I really liked the non mj parts the most - Steve Kerr, Kukoc, Pippen. MJ is a massive figure in bball, the biggest, so I get why they went that way but for me more about the team, rather than the mj story, would have been better.

Tax didn't come in till after the 99 lockout and wasn't implemented until 02 03 season

I just would be shocked if he loses money keeping Jordan even with luxury tax compared to letting them all go and rebuilding

The pizza guy Fite was a Utahian. But a jordan and bulls fan. He offered this opinion on the end of the bulls:

The pizza scandal aside, Fite still has common ground with MJ. He blames management for blowing up the Bulls after the 1997-98 championship and swore off his Bulls fandom.

no not a bull no more

Interesting all round this pizza story. Look, I believe Fite is telling the truth, but MJ is MJ so who is everyone going to believe? Certainly not some pizza manager. Does sound like something that could’ve happened, MJ playing cards/gambling, sinking piss, smoking cigars etc. Orders pizza, goes a bit to hard on the drink, starts throwing up, media gets wind he isn’t well so they go with “it was food poisoning”.

Wasn’t it also revealed that MJ once downed 8-10 beers while playing golf then dropped 40 odd points in a game?
